“… Judge Scheindlin may feel very ‘progressive’ in her secure upper middle class home tonight. But she has just made life a lot more difficult and dangerous for immigrant and minority bodega owners and struggling single mothers and their kids …”

U.S. Federal Courts to NYC: Go To Hell

New York, Friday, August 13, 2013 – City Council candidate, Joseph Concannon, District #23, slammed the ruling of U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin that the stop, question and frisk policy of the New York Police Department violated the constitutional rights of minorities in the city. To fix this, she intends to designate an outside lawyer to monitor the NYPD’s compliance with the Constitution.

NYC PBA President Pat Lynch Endorses Joe Concannon

Last Thursday, Concannon, a retired police captain, declared his candidacy on the steps of City Hall with the endorsement of PBA President Pat Lynch and all New York State law enforcement unions based upon his stance against the City Council’s anti-police legislation, the Community Safety Act. Today, he declared that this federal judge just told New York City to go to hell. The judge’s reckless decision should be a call to arms for all New Yorkers who refuse to go back to the bad old days of rampant crime and chaos when people were afraid to go out at night and parents were putting their children to sleep in bathtubs.

Joe Concannon Announces City Council Race Against Councilman Mark Weprin

Retired Police Captain Joseph Concannon made the announcement Thursday of his City Council candidacy on the steps of City Hall surrounded by the presidents of the PBA, Detectives Endowment Association, Lieutenants’ Benevolent Association, Sergeants Benevolent Association, Captains Endowment Association and a dozen other police officer unions.

Concannon’s City Council race was an unexpected turn of events brought about by the political firestorm over the City Council’s anti-stop, question and frisk legislation dubbed the “Criminal Protection Act” championed by Councilman Mark Weprin (D-Oakland Gardens). Weprin voted in favor of two bills, Intros 1079 and 1080 which would handcuff and blindfold the police by allowing individuals to sue police officers, and establishing an inspector general to oversee the NYPD.

America is in Danger of Becoming Divided

Sunny Hahn who is running for NYC City Council in District 20, Flushing, Queens, said in a brief stirring video address, “America is in danger of becoming divided by race, gender, creed, ancestry, and class.” Every American needs to listen to this video.

Dear Friend,

Thank you for all your help, which has allowed us to bring this campaign from zero to sixty in only a few short months. We have nominated Dennis on the Republican and Conservative party lines, and in the most recent filing period, none of the Democrats could raise even a third as much money as Dennis.

Letter to the Editor: Do not Curtail Stop and Frisk

 Times-Ledger-Newspaper-Logo2

Published July 15th, 2013

The City Council’s passage in June of the inaptly named Community Safety Act is a reckless action which will handcuff the police, lead to more drugs and guns on our streets and victimize the poor and minority citizens the Council claims to protect.

Queens Council members must vote to sustain Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s promised veto of this dangerous measure.

The act would open the door for countless lawsuits against police anti-crime strategies under a broad and unclear definition of “bias-based profiling,” and create an inspector general to second-guess these police tactics.

Message from Dennis Saffran for City Council

Dennis Saffran for City Council

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

I’m writing to let you know that I am running for the New York City Council seat from Northeast Queens now held by Dan Halloran, who has recently been indicted on federal corruption charges.

As many of you are aware, I nearly won this Council seat in 2001 – losing to Tony Avella by just 400 out of 35,000 votes.

I’m running again this year for two reasons. First, of course, to restore to our communities and to the Republican Party in our area the tradition of integrity and honesty in government set for many years by Senator Frank Padavan and former Councilman Mike Abel.

Greetings from Scherie Murray for City Council District 31

Dear Rosedale, Laurelton, Springfield Gardens and Far Rockaway residents:

Captains Endowment Association (CEA)

I am your candidate for City Council. My name is Scherie Murray and it’s time for New Leadership. I have lived in the district for 14 years. As a resident, I know the long list of problems that are affecting each community. If you elect me I will shorten that list by promoting public policies that better the quality of life for you and your family. For those who have given up on our political system, I want to remind you not to be discouraged. Every vote counts. I am the best candidate because I can offer solutions to the issues that are important to you. Elect me because I am a role model for the next generation.

alex-contact-mdChoosing a leader for political office to represent one’s district, borough, city, state or nation is choosing a steward whom one trusts will do their best to provide, protect and respect the constituency, much like in a marriage, spouses do for each other and for their family. In a marriage, one spouse should not have to tolerate infidelity or abusive behavior and a constituency should not have to tolerate a divided loyalty or abusive policies from their elected official.

Murray CD-31 and Eric Ulrich CD-32 in opposition to the “Community Safety Act

City Council candidate Scherie Murray (R-Distirct 31) held a very successful press conference on the steps of Queens Boro Hall on Wed with Councilman Eric Ulrich, City Comptoller candidate John Burnett as well as the six other GOP City Council candidates along with major media coverage. Queens Republican City Council candidates, Dennis Saffran CD-19, Sunny Hahn CD-20, Daniel Peterson CD-22, Alex Blishteyn CD-24, Craig Caruana CD-30, Scherie Murray CD-31 and Eric Ulrich CD-32 stand united with members of the law enforcement community in opposition to the “Community Safety Act.” We need to keep the pressure up to stop the City Council’s vote for the “Coummunity Safety Act” from being enacted. We all can help stop the City Council’s madness and help to elect our GOP City Council candidates in order to prevent dangerous bills like these from receiving veto-proof majorities.
