Videos: Christmas/Chanukah Party

We were so glad to see everyone at our annual Christmas & Chanukah Party on December 4th hosted by the Queens Village Republican Club. We had a great time, great food, and plenty of dancing with Jimmy James our DJ, and the ideal time to honor Curtis Sliwa, the true People’s Mayor, who was presented with a special certificate and heartfelt reading presentation to thank him for all he has done and is doing for the people of NYC. It was a joyous celebration of the spirit of the season: Christmas the season of hope and joy, and Chanukah, the Miracle of Lights! It was a night to say thanks to all of you who helped at our beautiful Campaign HQ, who made 1000 phone calls a day, knocked on doors, put up posters, donated money, attend rallies and events, talked to your friends and neighbors. You rose to the call of duty and for this we are grateful. God Bless you all! See meeting videos below. Thank you to our videographer, Jim Doukas.

We want to begin by thanking you….. for the brave and incredible way you put yourself out there, day after day, alongside Nancy, to save our city.

You never stopped showing up, you never stopped telling the truth, and you never stopped doing what was right.

You were more like the Energizer Bunny…… you kept going, and going, while the rest of us needed a nap just watching you.

Every day, you were out in the streets, bringing hope, humor, insight, and a lifetime of knowing this city better than anyone.

At every rally, you moved people,  not with scripts, but with heart.

Videos: Nov. 6th Post-Election Club Meeting

The Queens Village Republican Club meeting on November 6, 2025 was just two days after the disappointing results of the General Election, but it was still proudly billed as a Victory Party. Why? Because what we built together was far greater than any single election outcome. Special guest speakers Professor Nicholas Giordano and Rabbi Sensei Gary Moskowitz both nailed it with their post-election assessments and prescriptions for energizing the party. Read more of the club’s “Post-Election Statement” and see the guest speaker’s videos below. Thank you to our videographer, Jim Doukas and Mike Ferrara: videopronut@gmail.com.

Professor Nicholas Giordano’s Post-Election Analysis

Professor Nicholas Giordano gave an astute post-election analysis of the mayoral election at the Nov. 6th QVRC Club Meeting. Prof Giordano is a distinguished political science professor and political commentator with an extensive background in government, politics, emergency management, and homeland security, and host of The P.A.S. Report Political Podcast @PASreport.

Rabbi Sensei Gary Moskowitz on how to energize the Party

Rabbi Gary is a former NYC police officer and counter terror trainer, high school history/law teacher, principal and social worker, TV producer, and 7th Deg. Black Belt Ju-Jitsu/Karate. He is the director of Public Policy Institute and Moskowitz Media divisions of Mitzvah USA, a NYS not for profit. Rabbi Gary spoke at Nov 6th QVRC meeting offering an assessment on the results of the mayoral election and how to energize the party to pursue a new generation to join the Republican Party.

From Neighborhood Bully to Tyrant, Cuomo Now Sets His Sights on NYC

As we approach the final days before the general election, we are re-releasing our earlier article on mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo, “From Neighborhood Bully to Tyrant: Cuomo Now Sets His Sights on NYC.” We thought it would take years for Democrats to forget the crimes and corruption Cuomo inflicted upon New York State—and that he would remain where he belongs, in the dustbin of history. Unfortunately, we were wrong. It took barely a month for political amnesia to set in—and, regrettably, even some weak-kneed Republicans have forgotten and surrendered their values.

This reprint serves as a wake-up call to those Republicans and Democrats alike who have forgotten who Cuomo truly is and what his leadership cost our state, and why we must never forget, and never vote for Cuomo in the mayoral election.
By Philip Orenstein

In a shocking statement made in 2018 while serving as governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo declared that America “was never that great,” positioning himself for a rumored presidential bid against President Trump in 2020. However, his ambitions came crashing down when he resigned in disgrace in 2021 amid multiple sexual harassment allegations. Now, just a few years later, with the hope that the public has forgotten his past transgressions, Cuomo is rebranding himself as a leader of integrity and competence in his bid for New York City mayor. Shockingly, he leads the Democratic primary polls, earning praise from prominent figures across the political spectrum, including some Jewish leaders and the American Jewish Congress.

What Every New York Voter Should Know and Do

By Lawrence Block

I am disappointed to hear that Sid Rosenberg and the owner of WABC 770 AM radio, Catsimatidis, are arguing for our Republican candidate for NYC Mayor, Curtis Sliwa to leave the mayoral race and to throw his support to the Independent candidate, Andrew Cuomo – father of No Cash Bail; speaker of the words, “America was never THAT great”; chargee of THIRTEEN women who claimed Cuomo committed sexual assault, abuse, etc., and the architect of sanctuary status in New York City and State.

Cuomo also received notoriety for issuing administrative orders that compelled nursing homes to accept COVID patients into their facilities, where over 16,000 seniors eventually died of the virus – arguably due to Cuomo’s ill-conceived mandates.

On a related matter, when President Trump moved boats into NY harbor that had been converted by Trump into floating hospitals for patients, Cuomo requested that the boats be refitted to meet the specific needs of COVID patients.   Once this was accomplished, Cuomo redirected all Covid patients to be transferred to existing and over-filled city hospitals and nursing homes rather than utilizing the floating hospitals provided by Trump. And so, the Covid floating hospitals remained empty until Trump reluctantly and finally moved the ships to a city that was more likely to utilize them.

I believe that Cuomo considers his game playing and his self-perceived showmanship in refusing to utilize Trump’s floating hospital facilities, that would have saved Covid sick New Yorkers from death, as an example of “standing up to Trump”.  During this time, too many New Yorkers died, and too many New Yorkers were left to mourn their loss of loved ones.

And in Cuomo’s typical outrageous over-zealous hubris, he wrote a book touting his “leadership” during the Covid pandemic and profited off his direct involvement in the death of too many New Yorkers.  In fact, the New York Joint Commission (JCOPE) found Cuomo guilty of using taxpayers’ money, public-servant time and government staff to help write and promote his self-serving book.  As a result, Cuomo was ordered to pay back $5.1 million of his book profits to New York State.

Cuomo and Mamdani seem to agree on no cash bail, the “City of Yes”, other real-estate legislation that takes away decision making from local elected officials and places decision-making squarely in the hands of landlords and investors who have the capital to knock down single family houses and replace multiple lots with big buildings regardless of the zoning restrictions that previously existed. In other words, both Mamdani and Cuomo support practices guided by greed that will ultimately destroy the character of neighborhoods throughout New York City.  Cuomo and Mamdani also support Local Law 97 which was passed in 2019 as part of the Climate Mobilization Act.  In short, this law requires all condos and coops in NYC to convert by retrofitting for full electrification or no reliance on fossil fuels in different stages from now to 2050.  The exorbitant cost of these conversions will be passed on to apartment owners, substantially increasing in their monthly maintenance charges over the course from partial to full implementation.

It’s hard to determine if Cuomo still supports Affirming (trans) Care and boys in girl’s locker-rooms in public schools.  I’m guessing that both Cuomo and Mamdani support these policies including medical transitional practices that mutilate and scar our children by use of “Nazi-like medical experimentation procedures” that do irreversible harm.

New York Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa on the other hand, holds more conservative and humane positions.  Mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa is against No Cash Bail, Open borders, and sanctuary cities. In addition, he vehemently opposes defunding the police, stripping the police of insurance that is afforded to all city workers, closing Rikers and moving prisons to local neighborhoods.  Sliwa also stands alone in opposition to the City of Yes and to Local Law 97.

So generally, Cuomo and Mamdani hold very similar positions with the exception that Cuomo does not support the ideology behind Islamic extremism.

In my opinion Mamdani is clearly an antisemite who supports Global Intifada because he refuses to denounce such practices.  He also refuses to denounce Hamas or to support the existence of the only Jewish state surrounded by many countries that harassed, evicted or killed their existing Jewish population.  He has threatened to arrest the Prime Minister of Israel but apparently would welcome to New York the Mullahs of Iran and the leaders of Hamas.  He has been known to take selfies with Ugandan leaders who introduced and implemented legislation that promotes the death penalty for lifestyles such as homosexuality and for all other non-traditional sexual relationships and alternative gender identifications.

It’s noteworthy to mention that, during the debates, both Cuomo and Mamdani proudly promised to fight Trump.  This pathetic strategy is very different from the stance that Mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa described, emphasizing negotiating with the president to achieve a balance of policies that are good for Americans and that greatly benefit New York City residents.

Given the above, I have decided that the new face of the democrat party is at least more forthright in representing the socialist, the antisemitic and the anti-American ideologies of the Democratic party. At least with Mamdani, we know exactly who and what we’re dealing with – an extreme progressive, Marxist, Communist who hates the USA, Jews and embraces organizations that chant, kill the infidels. For those college and high school students who may not know this, an infidel is anyone who doesn’t believe in and doesn’t practice Islam in a prescribed manner.

If elected and based on the plans he has presented to the public, it appears that Mamdani will take steps to continue the steady decline of our city.  If New Yorkers vote for the likes of Cuomo or Mandani, the damage they leave behind will be attributable to the voters who put them in office.

It is not clear if what Mamdani says is what he will do.  But here are my best guesses on this matter:  Higher rents for those who earn a salary including seniors who receive monthly social security checks; substantial raises in costs for condominium and cooperative owners to pay for full conversions from gas to electric and increases for all real-estate owners in the form of property taxes; less prisoners in jail and more of them let loose on the streets hurting you and your children; because Mamdani is planning to invest millions of dollars in affirming care, more children in NYC will be buying into the propaganda on transitioning from their gender of birth to their gender by identification. You may have missed that the democrats and voters in NYS have passed legislation that clearly indicates that parents do not have rights to interfere with affirming care of their children.

Also, there will be a coordinated effort by Mamdani and the UFT to wage war against charter schools and to firmly cap their expansion, regardless of the thousands of children and their parents who are on a waiting list for admission.  In addition, more indoctrination in the schools, perhaps justifying Hamas as freedom fighters and Israel and the United States as colonizers.  Don’t be surprised if an increasing number of students believe that the Holocaust was just a farce.

The state education department, along with the unions, are doing their very best to shield students from standardized testing.  With little or no measures of accountability except for subjective criteria, it will be difficult to determine student progress. No need to worry though; according to the powers that preside over the school system, you can be confident that they will report that all the children are doing just fine.

Taxes on earners will go up as well as other indices such as sales tax, city tax, state tax and perhaps even a tax on the taxes.   Afterall, when the rich and upper middle class flee the city for more favorable living and earning conditions, it will be up to the diminishing middle class to shoulder the responsibility of making their earnings available for redistribution to the needy and to the ever-growing stream of illegal aliens into our marvellous sanctuary city.

Reasonably, even illegal aliens need free hotels, culturally appropriate food, new clothes, dry cleaning, laundry services, social security and health care and free education. So, kiss-goodbye reduced class size and welcome all discretionary and redirected funds to English as a Second Language initiatives.

In my opinion, with illegal aliens on the social security payroll and on the Medicare and Medicaid caseloads, anticipated reductions in Social Security benefits and health-care services may move back from 2034 to 2030.  I also suggest that you don’t delay going to the doctor because your social security funds and health benefits may go bust sooner than later.

If you vote for Mamdani or for Cuomo, don’t complain when no cash bail continues, when unrehabilitated prisoners are released because Mamdani believes that the responsibility for crime is with the society and not with the individual.  Along these lines, Mamdani refers to crime as a social construct. Also, as expected, Cuomo takes no responsibility for the city’s crime, for the homeless situation and for the invasion of illegal aliens in New York City.  It is not surprising that Cuomo blames Trump for all of Cuomo’s missteps and devastating decisions.  With these two candidates do you really have any choice?  If either Mamdani or Cuomo become the mayor, our city will suffer.  If you vote for either one of them, you will be complicit in the downfall of our city.  Better to fight it than to join it. Given all the above, win or lose, I strongly endorse Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa for New York City Mayor.

Why I’m Standing with Curtis Sliwa — Not Cuomo

This letter was written in response to a friend who made an appeal to vote for Cuomo over Sliwa to stop Mamdani.

I live my life every day with a lot of unknowns, but I know this much: I will stick to my principles and let the chips fall where they may. I will never vote for Andrew Cuomo. He talks down to people; you can hear it in his voice. I’m not going to be sold a bag of garbage wrapped up and marketed as gold.

By Ira Harris

The question I keep asking is this: why have so many powerful figures — Catsimatidis and others — chosen to back Adams first and now Cuomo, instead of supporting Curtis Sliwa from the start? If Cuomo is truly the “savior” they now claim, why did they ignore him when the city needed saving? And if they think Mamdani is dangerous, why rally behind someone who has already caused so much harm to New York State and City?

Let’s not forget who these people really are.
Eric Adams — once a leader of the racist “100 Black Law Enforcement Officers” group — is the same man who stood at bus depots welcoming illegal migrants into New York, handing out $500-a-night hotel rooms, and proudly calling himself “the Biden of Brooklyn.” Cuomo is no better. He promised to look into fracking, then banned it the moment he took office while neighboring states prospered from it. He lectured us daily during COVID while his disastrous nursing home policies killed thousands of seniors.

When Governor Hochul handed out outrageously overpriced COVID test contracts to her donors — double what California paid — Cuomo said nothing. When a woman was set on fire in the subway, Cuomo said nothing. When Adams refused to unleash the police on violent rioters and antisemitic mobs on college campuses, Cuomo said nothing — while Curtis Sliwa was out there getting his jaw broken defending small businesses and everyday New Yorkers. Cuomo said nothing as Adams packed illegal migrants into Creedmoor and other city shelters. Yet now Cuomo rides in on a shiny horse as if we’re supposed to forget his record — and we’re expected to sell out our values to vote for him?

Where was Cuomo when the socialist wing of his party was taking over? He was being wined, dined, and pocket lined like every other corrupt New York politician.

Yes, I understand the fear — people say we must vote for Cuomo to stop Mamdani, especially because of how dangerous Mamdani would be for the Jewish community. That emotional appeal tugs at us. But are we really going to abandon our values and reward corruption just because we fear something worse?

Maybe I’m an idealist — or maybe I just have a long memory. I believe even if Mamdani wins, there’s a limit to how far he can go before New Yorkers rise up and demand change. If that happens, the backlash will be fierce. The people will wake up, and pressure will mount on Albany — maybe even paving the way for leaders like Elise Stefanik to step in next year. And I believe President Trump will keep a watchful eye and do his part to limit the damage.

But who knows — maybe Curtis Sliwa will shock them all and win this race, and everyone will have to eat crow.

Your friend, Ira

CURTIS OR BUST!

Queens Village Republican Club Stands Unshakably with Curtis Sliwa for Mayor of New York City

Queens, NY — The members of the Queens Village Republican Club, America’s oldest Republican club, proudly stand shoulder to shoulder with Curtis Sliwa — our fighter, our champion, and the people’s candidate for Mayor of New York City. Curtis is a tireless advocate for everyday New Yorkers, a man of unshakable integrity who cannot be bought or bullied.

For decades, Curtis has taken on corrupt politicians, crooked bureaucrats, and even survived violent attacks from organized crime — always fighting for the people of this city he loves. He has never stopped standing up for what’s right.

Let’s be clear: Curtis didn’t give us bail reform. He didn’t cause 15,000 nursing home deaths. He didn’t raise our taxes or resign in disgrace like Andrew Cuomo. And unlike Zohran Mamdani, Curtis doesn’t believe in draining the city treasury for radical, unworkable giveaways.

Curtis Sliwa is the adult in the room — the seasoned New Yorker who knows every neighborhood, every subway line, every struggle of working-class families. He will take on Cuomo, “the architect,” and Mamdani, “the apprentice,” and lead New York City back to safety, sanity, and prosperity.

This election is not about billionaires or political insiders — it’s about the people. And the people are speaking loud and clear: CURTIS OR BUST!

Join Curtis and Nancy Sliwa on October 25th, the first day of early voting, and make your voice heard. With your vote and support, Curtis will lead the revitalization of New York City and restore pride in the greatest city in the world.

All Republicans Must Unite Behind Curtis Sliwa

By Phil Orenstein

Curtis Sliwa is our Republican candidate for Mayor of New York City. The Democrats are fractured and demoralized, locked in a bitter struggle between moderates and socialist extremists. Recently, Governor Hochul endorsed Mamdani, while State Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs flatly rejected him. With Democrats in disarray, it is vital that Republicans stand shoulder to shoulder, unite, and rally behind our standard-bearer, Curtis Sliwa, in the most consequential race for New York City’s future in 2025. And he will win.

Vote Sliwa to Save the American Dream

By Paul King, former Republican candidate for U.S. Congress, NY-05 in 2024

Who is the greatest enemy of a Socialist/Marxist? No, it’s not rich people. It’s YOU.

Queens is the home of the American Dream. It is the first stop in the land of opportunity for immigrants and first-generation Americans. For homeowners who may have spent decades or generations working toward a family home, our residential neighborhoods are where those dreams came true. A vote for Mamdani (or frankly, Cuomo) is a vote to destroy your dreams.

Socialists despise people who believe they can build a better life through faith and hard work. That covers almost every working-class and middle-class New Yorker. Almost certainly, you are the philosophical enemy of Zohran Mamdani. Why? Because your success proves them wrong.

Queens Village Republican Club Endorses Curtis Sliwa for Mayor of New York City

Queens Village, NY — On June 30, 2025, the Board of Directors and Officers of the Queens Village Republican Club, the oldest Republican club in America, voted unanimously to endorse Curtis Sliwa for Mayor of New York City.

We support Curtis Sliwa, whose watchword is “Improve Don’t Move,” because of his public policies to bolster the blue-collar working-class families from the outer boroughs, the backbone of NYC, as well as reversing the exodus of police officers retiring in record number.  We support his plans to hire 7000 more cops, unshackle them, and his opposition to the City of Yes and the city’s destructive sanctuary policies.  He stood with us continuously for the two long years we fought to shut down the notorious tent city of illegal migrants at Creedmoor.  For this, we owe him our absolute loyalty and support.

He discussed the issues that affect all New Yorkers, from crime, to the City of Yes, Lithium-Ion Battery facilities, migrant shelters, and much more, as we all pledged our total support for Curtis, the next mayor of New York City!

Queens Business Coalition Hosts a Packed House for Maud Maron

The Queens Business Coalition proudly hosted a packed and spirited reception in support of Maud Maron, the Republican candidate for Manhattan District Attorney, at the Oasis Café in Bayside. The event brought together a dynamic crowd of local business leaders, restaurant and hospitality owners, and members of the Queens Village Republican Club, who helped organize the evening. Guests enjoyed music by the American Conservative Artists, adding to the festive and patriotic atmosphere. During the event a surprise cake was brought out to celebrate Maud’s birthday!

The Maud for Manhattan campaign extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and contributed so generously. Maud expressed her excitement at the tremendous turnout and strong grassroots energy behind her candidacy, calling it “a powerful sign that New Yorkers are ready to take back their streets and restore dignity and justice to the DA’s office.”

The reception’s key goal was to raise funds to reach out to disillusioned Manhattan voters—Democrats, independents, and Republicans alike—who are fed up with the unchecked crime, riots, and lawlessness under Soros-backed DA Alvin Bragg. These voters want change, and they’re rallying behind Maud Maron, a candidate with the courage and integrity to hold violent criminals accountable and make public safety a top priority.

If you missed the event or want to further support this critical race, the campaign’s donation link remains active. Help us expand our reach and ensure Maud Maron’s message continues to resonate across Manhattan.

What Will It Take to Stop Antisemitism in NYC?

By Phil Orenstein

In the wake of the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist massacre—the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust—New York City became the epicenter of a disturbing surge in antisemitism. In the year that followed, antisemitic incidents in the city reached a historic high, with Jews targeted in 54% of all reported hate crimes, according to NYPD statistics.

The vast majority of these attacks occurred in the borough of Manhattan. This is not a mystery. It is the predictable result of a criminal justice system that has failed to function, enabled by the leadership—or lack thereof—of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. When prosecutors refuse to hold violent offenders accountable, chaos and hate fill the vacuum.

The OppScore from GO USA moves a majority of voters to support America-First

While most in the media would have you believe that our country is evenly divided, the fact is that we’re not – we’re very united on the issues that matter most to the voters. In fact, 85% of us are aligned on the issues in support of common sense, America-First principles.

The OppScore from Grand Opportunity USA “GO USA” has not only shown this through its polls and research – but it also actually changed minds and moved voters to support America-First candidates, as it did in key swing states and districts in the 2024 elections.

The OppScore® is a US patent-pending, nonpartisan “common sense” political rating system based on GO USA’s “Five Points of Opportunity” showing which politicians are working FOR opportunity and the American people and who is working AGAINST us.  It is proven to convert a significant proportion of Independent and Democrat voters to support America-First candidates. Harris-Walz is the Most Anti-Freedom Presidential Ticket in American History

By Professor Nicholas Giordano

The Democratic Party and legacy media seek to reinvent Vice President Kamala Harris by running her as the anti-Kamala Harris candidate. The Vice President’s record is a litany of far-left policies and administrative incompetence that no amount of rebranding can erase. If the flip-flopping wasn’t enough, the campaign has the audacity to center her platform around ‘freedom.’ However, this campaign is a façade that masks the most anti-freedom presidential ticket in American history. Over the past three years, the Biden-Harris administration has been unrelenting in its attacks on our basic freedoms, and this will undoubtedly worsen under a Harris-Walz administration.

Were We Better Off 4 Years Ago?

By Laura Schmitt

The Queens County Beacon endorses Donald J. Trump for President of the United States of America for the following reasons:

Donald Trump built the world’s most prosperous economy. America gained 7 million real jobs, not bounce backs. For every demographic group, unemployment was the lowest in over half a century. Income inequality fell by the largest in over a decade. The bottom 50% of American households enjoyed a 40% increase in net worth! Businesses flourished with decreases in onerous regulations and a business tax cut from 35% to 21%. The average family saved $2,500 in lower electric bills and gasoline annually. Groceries and housing were affordable.

There are four Kamala Harrises.  None of them should be President.

Kamala Harris is a political chameleon.  To some degree, this is an accusation that can be leveled at many politicians, if not most, across party lines.  She’s hardly the first to flipflop on her positions, evade tough questions, or have an on-again-off-again relationship with the truth.  But what is unique about Harris is the sheer scale to which she does these things, and the complicity of the media in helping her get away with them.  There doesn’t seem to be even one single issue on which the Vice President has not waffled or reversed herself.  Taking her statements at face value, one could essentially divide Kamala Harris into four entirely separate politicians with four completely contradictory belief systems.  If she is elected, the voter has no way of knowing which one she’ll govern as, and frankly, even if we could, none of the four are Presidential material.

Kamala One is the persona she took on as District Attorney of San Francisco and later Attorney General of California.  On the surface, Kamala One might seem like an appealing law and order candidate, but if you look deeper, you’ll find a tyrant.  This version of Kamala didn’t consider the powers of a prosecutor to have any limits, and really didn’t care whose rights got trampled on pursuing her version of order.  This was the Kamala who was so famously destroyed on the debate stage by Tulsi Gabbard for defying court orders by keeping prisoners incarcerated after they had already served their time to use them as expendable firefighting cannon fodder, and who suppressed exculpatory evidence against a likely innocent man who to this day is still on death row because of her.  Her solution to every problem from truancy to inconvenient journalism is to attempt to imprison somebody.  One can only imagine what she would start doing to political foes with the justice department at her command.

Kamala Two is the version of Harris that served in the Senate, carving out a niche as its furthest left, most progressive member, even past Bernie Sanders, according to voting record aggregators such as GovTrack, who have since attempted to scrub these records from the internet in compliance with her attempts to rebrand herself.  Two is, essentially, a communist, entirely eschewing any sort of bipartisanship and favoring only the most extreme expansions of government and redistributions of wealth, voting for open borders and championing the Green New Deal.  Even faced with a Republican congress, Kamala Two’s efforts to spend America into a second great depression would likely cause a drastic worsening of congressional gridlock, but the damage she could do with a favorable legislature would simply be incalculable.

Kamala Three is the person who ran in the 2020 Democrat primaries, and the scariest of the lot.  Attempting to define herself in a crowded field, this Kamala embraced the culture war, making #MeToo, cancel culture, and wokeness central to her platform, to impose on America as an all-encompassing, totalitarian agenda.  She is out on the furthest left fringes of every cultural issue, from “abortion” after birth, taxpayer funding of sex changes for illegal aliens, gun confiscation by executive order, reparations paid to those who were never slaves from those who never owned slaves, and on and on to the bleeding edges of woke insanity.  Three embraces a vision of an America reorganized along the progressive stack, with a person’s place in society determined by how many supposedly oppressed categories they can squeeze themselves into for extra status.

Kamala Four, now endorsed by Dick Cheney, of all people, is essentially a neocon on everything but abortion.  Selected rather than elected, handed the nomination without having to earn the votes of her party’s base in a primary, she has been free to simply claim that her positions are whatever she thinks Pennsylvania wants to hear.  On some issues, she has even attempted to out-Trump Trump.  On paper, she might thusly seem palatable to conservatives…until one remembers why the Cheneys like her so much.  As she made plain on the debate stage, she is the candidate of war.  Perpetual war all over the world, constantly draining American blood and treasure into the coffers of the military industrial complex.  That would be bad enough even if done competently, imagine what it would look like helmed by the self-described “last person in the room” for the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal that claimed 13 American lives and left the Taliban billions of dollars worth of American weapons and equipment.

So who is Kamala Harris, really?  Two months of campaigning, one supervised interview and one comically over-moderated debate later, we still don’t know.  The only throughline of her political career is a deep authoritarian streak.  Whatever she claims to stand for at the moment, she wants ruthlessly enforced on everyone.  Despite this, she rarely follows her own rules, and when caught in these double standards, her response is usually laughter.  Her inability to control her giddiness in these situations suggests an unnerving conclusion: Kamala Harris’ contradictions are by design, because she is the kind of person who enjoys hypocrisy, who gets a thrill from publicly espousing morals she privately ignores.  And there is no personality type more dangerous with power.
