Doug Lee makes presentation
In a packed meeting hall, over 75 attendees listened intently to energy policy and subject matter experts, Maureen Koetz and Doug Lee present and answer questions in an informative open forum on Energy and the Environment. Facts and figures were presented, some astonishing, such as the gross amount of harmful pollution produced from the overseas production of solar panels in China which are subsidized by our tax dollars. Some of these and other myths were exposed as well as learning about policy elements for “Sustainable Republicans” and why sustainability matters. Comments of “genius,” “shocking” and “enlightening” were heard from the guests when describing the presentations of both speakers.
The following letter was sent to Senator Flanagan urging the State Senate’s passage of the VSF Disability Inquiry Bill S.1031 in order to support our disabled firefighters and police personnel, who have served and sacrificed their own life and limb for our safety and security here in New York City.

The following piece was published in the TimesLedger newspapers. We thank the Editor of the TimesLedger for the opportunity to share our views with their Queens County-wide readership!

The Queens Village Republican Club’s policy is to make no endorsements of candidates during a Republican primary contest, and this certainly applies to the GOP presidential races. However we may certainly take a look at outstanding candidates and the pearls of wisdom they bring to the table. One presidential hopeful in particular who recently declared her candidacy, Carly Fiorina, is a distinctive voice espousing the vision of our Founding Fathers and restoring faith in the American Dream. Whether she becomes the presidential nominee or not, it is imperative we listen to what she is saying.

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund hosts National Police Week each year, along with two other organizations: Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) and Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). In 1962 United States President John F. Kennedy signed into law that May 15th would be known as National Peace Officers Day each year. Henceforth, each year for the second week of May, the nation celebrates National Police Week.
Fred Bedell, Grand Knight of St. Anastasia Post #5911, and Glen Oaks Village resident, issued a proposal for the new athletic field under construction on Commonwealth Boulevard to be named “The Brian Moore Athletic Field.”

Hundreds of residents of the Queens Village and Bellerose community in Eastern Queens came out for National Police Week, the annual week commemorating police officers who have given their lives in the line of duty each year. During 2014, 117 police officers nationwide died in the line of duty. Candlelight Vigils were held throughout New York City, Long Island and the nation, to show our gratitude and appreciation for the great service and sacrifice of our police officers for our safety and security. In this video and photos, you can see the spirited Community March from Our Lady of Lourdes Church to the 105th Police Precinct in Queens Village, as the community joined together in solemn gratitude to conduct the Candlelight Vigil to honor the memories of Det. Brian Moore and the brave men and women of law enforcement throughout the nation. WE SUPPORT OUR LOCAL POLICE!!

Deputy Director of Public Safety for Mayor Rudy Giuliani joins Steve Malzberg to discuss National Police Week, May 10 – May 16, and an article Joe wrote in which he called for a Boycott of the city of Baltimore for the way in which city officials reacted to the riots, which in Joe’s view allowed rioters to destroy the city putting residents and business owners in harm’s way.
