The ceremonial presentation of the “Rabbi Morton Pomerantz Veteran of the Year Award” to World War II Veteran and decorated war hero, 1st LT Sampson Lester Friedman, U.S. Army Air Corps (Ret.) was the most moving part of the Lincoln Dinner program. This award was named to preserve the memory of our club board member Rabbi Morton Pomerantz, who was a Marine Corp and Navy chaplain, and acclaimed advocate of Veterans and Republican causes. LT Friedman was accompanied by fellow World War II Veterans Lt. Col. John Peterkin and Jason Kaatz, Crew Engineer, UH1 Helicopter, who escorted Mr. Friedman up to the podium to the haunting musical strains of “Mansions of the Lord” performed by John Walters.

David Bressler was the recipient of the Community Leader of the Year Award at the 143rd Anniversary Lincoln Dinner on March 18th. In his acceptance speech he officially declared his candidacy as the Republican running for State Assembly in the 26th Assembly District in Northeastern Queens.

Here is the heartfelt letter of appreciation to the members of the Queens Village Republican Club from Lt. Governor Casey Cagle of the State of Georgia. This letter was in response to our acts of praise and commendations to State of Georgia Legislature for standing up boldly for our 2nd Amendment rights. The Queens Village Republican Club sent a beautiful commemorative plaque to Lt. Governor Casey Cagle and the Senate of the State of Georgia for their action in blocking the sales tax exemption proposed to be offered to Delta Airlines. The Atlanta-based airline is ending their discount program for members of the National Rifle Association.

The theme of the 143rd Anniversary Lincoln Dinner is “The new golden era for America and the Republican Party.” The presentation of the “Future of America Awards” to three exemplary Young Republicans whose awesome energy, enthusiasm, and talent, will be the highlight of the dinner ceremonies, and will inspire everyone attending with great hope and promise for the future of America. Michael Conigliaro, the Managing Director of the Italian American Federation of Brooklyn and Queens, and mentor to one of the honorees, will present the prestigious awards, from America’s oldest Republican Club, to Nicole L. Weingartner, Chief of Staff of the New York State Young Republicans, Ryan J. Girdusky, President of the Middle Village Republican Club, and Michael Jannis, Legal Assistant at the law offices of Parola & Gross, LLP.

Florence Maloney, Lincoln Dinner Recipient of The Harvey Moder Lifetime Achievement Award
The Queens Village Republican Club has decided to memorialize its Lifetime Achievement Award in honor of our former president Harvey Ellwood Moder. Florence Maloney, recipient of this year’s Harvey Moder Lifetime Achievement Award, has led a life of service to the educational community, the Catholic community, to the Republican and Conservative Parties, and to her country, as a teacher, a leader and an inspiration to all.
Florence Maloney has served in the educational community for over 40 years. Her service includes high school teacher, department chairman, junior high school assistant principal,
elementary school principal, district-curriculum supervisor, and professor, Department of Office Technology, City University of New York.
Dr. Maloney received her doctorate from St. John’s University and completed her thesis on the Relationship Between Leadership Behavior and Particular Personality Characteristics of Women
Principals in Public and Roman Catholic Schools.
