Florence Maloney, Lincoln Dinner Recipient of The Harvey Moder Lifetime Achievement Award
The Queens Village Republican Club has decided to memorialize its Lifetime Achievement Award in honor of our former president Harvey Ellwood Moder. Florence Maloney, recipient of this year’s Harvey Moder Lifetime Achievement Award, has led a life of service to the educational community, the Catholic community, to the Republican and Conservative Parties, and to her country, as a teacher, a leader and an inspiration to all.
Florence Maloney has served in the educational community for over 40 years. Her service includes high school teacher, department chairman, junior high school assistant principal,
elementary school principal, district-curriculum supervisor, and professor, Department of Office Technology, City University of New York.
Dr. Maloney received her doctorate from St. John’s University and completed her thesis on the Relationship Between Leadership Behavior and Particular Personality Characteristics of Women
Principals in Public and Roman Catholic Schools.
Since her retirement from the academic community, Dr. Maloney initiated the Joint Parish Respect Life Committee, a grass-roots group of parishioners from 16 Queens parishes, currently. Members meet monthly to respond to present-day cultural conflicts as they relate to the defense of Life and the Family. Their chief works are a publication, Respect Life News, a Catholic Speakers Series, One Nation Under God: the Family and the Culture of Life, and co-sponsoring of the annual March for Life.
Rachel’s Helpers, a ministry affiliated with the Helpers of God’s Precious Infants, was organized by Dr. Maloney as an outreach program for women who have had an abortion. The program recognizes the deep emotional after-effects of this experience and supports them in finding a spiritual healing.
Dr. Maloney is an inductee of The Pro-Life Hall of Fame, Diocese of Brooklyn.
