Reclaiming the Right to Free Speech in New York

By Elena Chin Coppola
“Without Freedom of Thought, there can be no such thing as Wisdom; and no such thing as public Liberty, without Freedom of Speech.” – Benjamin Franklin

On December 15, I had the honor of attending a White House event commemorating the ratification of the Bill of Rights in 1791. With America nearing its 250th birthday, it was a powerful reminder of the liberties that make our unique experiment in self-government possible. Today, more than ever, those liberties are being put to the test and must be defended, especially in our schools and on our college campuses, where viewpoint diversity is too often punished rather than debated. Students are learning that certain perspectives are protected while others are policed; that conformity is rewarded and dissent is prohibited.
2026: America’s 250th Birthday, the Year of New York and the USA!

President’s Message by Philip Orenstein
January 2026
It was Friday night, December 19th, and I had just begun drafting this President’s Message for The Queens Village Eagle. I was focusing on the critical 2026 Republican primary for Governor of New York, when breaking news changed the landscape. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik announced that she was ending her campaign for governor.
Congresswoman Stefanik is a rising Republican rock star and was the state GOP’s endorsed candidate, even as another major Republican leader had entered the race. I had planned to write about the fundamental importance of competitive primaries—why grassroots Republicans must have a real voice, rather than having their nominee dictated from the top down by party insiders. That approach has failed New York Republicans repeatedly in recent years, and the results speak for themselves.

Activist/Author Gloria Giorno Sounds Off Against College Students’ Attempt To Destroy Her Son
Dec 9, 2025 Shining a searing spotlight on hot-button issues
Her book, “Outcast: How The Radical Left Tried to Destroy A Young Conservative,” recalls the chilling story of how Belmont University students terrorized her son, Stevie, when he wouldn’t bow down to the woke mob. Having lived in Communist Yugoslavia, Gloria voices concern about NYC under recently-elected mayor Zohran Mamdani, how women vote, winning the midterm elections, and how our schools are producing more “Mamdani voters.”

They Say Trump Is A Bully! So What!
By Stan Norwalk

In the geopolitical world of war, hate, religious despots, territory-hungry tyrants, reckless leaders, evil actors, and maniacal would-be world conquerors, you have to be a bully. Otherwise, America ends up with meek world leadership—as we saw under Presidents Biden and Obama—allowing countries like Iran, North Korea, China, rebels in Syria, and Putin’s Russia to walk all over us. Under Biden, Iran and Russia found the perfect president to invade Israel and Ukraine, and under Obama, we saw the weak response while Christians were being slaughtered in Syria. They recognized weak American leadership and knew any response would be symbolic—meant only to save face—not a committed effort to win.
When I first arrived in high school, I was bullied. But after getting advice from my parents, I decided I wouldn’t let anyone push me around. I had a few fights, and after that, no one bothered me.
Some tough kids wanted money from me. They would watch what I brought to school for lunch. They took my lunch, spit on it, tossed it on the floor in the cafeteria, and demanded money. I went home upset and told my mother and father what happened. My mother told me I had to go back there and hurt them physically, even if I got hurt myself—and she promised me they would never bother me again. My father said I should report it to the principal. I listened to my mother.
On two different occasions, I confronted them. The first time, during lunch, I pushed their lunch table over and hit the ringleader in the head with someone’s lunch box. The second time, I walked over to them while they were eating and just stared them down, hoping to show I wasn’t afraid. That was the last time they bothered me. Yes, I got in trouble with the principal—but it was worth it.
Read Trump’s book The Art of the Deal. I use his techniques in business and in social situations. They work. Yes, Trump is a bully—but with the greatest military and largest economy in the world, he can be a bully, and he uses it to fight for the American people.
He is fighting for us—not just for Democrats or Republicans, but for all Americans. He is leveraging our military might and our economic power to gain benefits for all of us. I believe it is working.
Arnold Schwarzenegger said, “Do not be a girly-man.” Conservative radio host Mark Levin said, “Stand up for your country.” Let others know you will respond—unlike Obama did in Syria or Biden did with Ukraine and Israel. The world is a corrupt, sick place with too many foolish people, and you have to let them know you are not weak or naïve, like Presidents Biden and Obama were when the “you-know-what hit the fan.”
If you give an inch, they take a foot. If you strike back, you instill fear and doubt in their minds—and gain power and strategic leverage for the future.
Thanks, Mom. Thanks, Dad. But I liked Mom’s way better. It worked. I felt energized, proud, satisfied—I even enjoyed the revenge—and it taught me a lesson in life. Many in the school heard about it or witnessed it and thought I was nuts. They just didn’t know the whole story.
Sometimes in the hallways, going from class to class, kids would point at me or give me a strange look. I thought I knew what they were thinking—that I was crazy. I hoped so. They may not have liked me, but they feared and respected me.
So be strong, stand up for your country, thank your president, and be a MAGA Republican.
Videos: Christmas/Chanukah Party

We were so glad to see everyone at our annual Christmas & Chanukah Party on December 4th hosted by the Queens Village Republican Club. We had a great time, great food, and plenty of dancing with Jimmy James our DJ, and the ideal time to honor Curtis Sliwa, the true People’s Mayor, who was presented with a special certificate and heartfelt reading presentation to thank him for all he has done and is doing for the people of NYC. It was a joyous celebration of the spirit of the season: Christmas the season of hope and joy, and Chanukah, the Miracle of Lights! It was a night to say thanks to all of you who helped at our beautiful Campaign HQ, who made 1000 phone calls a day, knocked on doors, put up posters, donated money, attend rallies and events, talked to your friends and neighbors. You rose to the call of duty and for this we are grateful. God Bless you all! See meeting videos below. Thank you to our videographer, Jim Doukas.

MEGA: Make Education Great Again
Restoring Excellence, Merit, and Free Thought in American Schools

America’s schools and universities were once the envy of the world. As the Carnegie Corporation noted, “For most of the 20th century, the U.S. had the best higher education system in the world.” Students traveled from every continent to study here, producing generations of innovators, scholars, and leaders.
Today, those same institutions have tragically deteriorated into centers of anti-American indoctrination, ideological conformity, and politicized curricula. We intend to reverse this decline.
The Queens Village Republican Club is launching the Academic Freedom Committee to restore freedom of thought, remove political activism from the classroom, and bring back excellence, merit, critical thinking, and intellectual honesty—core American values that built the greatest education system in history. We dedicate this mission to the children of America who are our future.

We want to begin by thanking you….. for the brave and incredible way you put yourself out there, day after day, alongside Nancy, to save our city.
You never stopped showing up, you never stopped telling the truth, and you never stopped doing what was right.
You were more like the Energizer Bunny…… you kept going, and going, while the rest of us needed a nap just watching you.
Every day, you were out in the streets, bringing hope, humor, insight, and a lifetime of knowing this city better than anyone.
At every rally, you moved people, not with scripts, but with heart.
Videos: Nov. 6th Post-Election Club Meeting

The Queens Village Republican Club meeting on November 6, 2025 was just two days after the disappointing results of the General Election, but it was still proudly billed as a Victory Party. Why? Because what we built together was far greater than any single election outcome. Special guest speakers Professor Nicholas Giordano and Rabbi Sensei Gary Moskowitz both nailed it with their post-election assessments and prescriptions for energizing the party. Read more of the club’s “Post-Election Statement” and see the guest speaker’s videos below. Thank you to our videographer, Jim Doukas and Mike Ferrara: videopronut@gmail.com.
