The Silent Creep of Communism Infecting America
By Professor Nicholas Giordano
Over the past decade, communist and Marxist principles have been gaining traction in the United States, as evidenced by the far-left ideologies embraced by the Democratic Party and the destructive policies of the Biden administration. However, these ideologies are fundamentally incompatible with the values and principles that define American society. To prevent their spread, it is crucial that we take immediate steps to halt their encroachment.
This march toward communism can be partly attributed to a failed education system that promotes indoctrination over American values. Too many believe that the United States is inherently evil and corrupted by a capitalist economic system. This view ignores the fact that capitalism has lifted millions of people out of poverty and is responsible for much of the progress that we have made over the past two centuries.
This problem is compounded by a lack of emphasis on the principles that have made America great, such as individual freedom, limited government, and free market capitalism. As a result, many are often left without a clear understanding of the unique American system and values that have allowed the country to thrive and become a beacon of hope for millions around the world.
This environment has allowed dangerous ideas to flourish, with people embracing ideologies that undermine the principles on which America was founded and threaten to unravel the fabric of American society. The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice (DEISJ) initiatives exemplify this dangerous trend and promote tribalism by dividing Americans into groups and creating a victimhood culture that pits the groups against each other.
While seeking to divide us, Leftists have unleashed an unprecedented assault on fundamental concepts such as family, gender, and faith, with relentless attacks aimed at undermining the traditional values that have been the bedrock of American society for generations.
The Biden administration has also contributed to this trend by implementing policies that punish those who have worked hard and been financially responsible. One policy is new fees imposed on mortgages for those with higher credit scores to subsidize those with lower credit scores. President Biden’s student loan forgiveness is another example of this redistribution. The message is clear, in Biden’s America, those who do the right thing must be punished in the name of equity. This approach runs counter to the traditional American values of hard work and self-reliance.
Under the current administration, the American economy has taken a dangerous turn away from the capitalist system that has been the backbone of the strongest middle class in the world. Instead, the government has implemented policies that promote a planned economy, in which the government exercises excessive control over every industry and arbitrarily selects winners and losers. Nowhere is this more clearly seen than in the President’s war on the oil and gas industry as he promotes a far-left green energy agenda. This approach threatens to undermine the principles of free enterprise and individual initiative that have made America a global economic powerhouse, and risks stifling innovation.
We must be aware of the history and consequences of these ideologies and recognize that they are fundamentally at odds with the American way of life. We must reject their false notions
that they can provide a solution to the problems we face and call out how “democratic socialism” is nothing more than communism in disguise.
We must do more to vet and support politicians and policies that uphold the principles of free markets, individual liberty, and limited government. This means voting for candidates who believe in these values. It means advocating for policies that promote economic freedom, and personal responsibility, and limiting government power by reducing the size and scope of the bureaucracy.
We have to promote alternative ideas and perspectives that reach ordinary people, especially those suffering under this regime. We must be willing to engage in debates and discussions, both online and in person, to make our case for why these values are superior to those espoused by the Left. By educating ourselves and others, supporting pro-freedom policies and politicians, promoting alternative perspectives, and protecting our institutions from infiltration, we can ensure that America remains a beacon of liberty and prosperity for generations to come.
