“…the parade spectators lining the streets of Northern Boulevard on May 26th will have the chance to see and hear the voices of the five heroic World War 2 veterans whom the members of the Parade’s new Association selected to be Grand Marshals. These heroes, now all in their late eighties and early nineties and all now, parents, grandparents and great grandparents are Rocco Moretto, John Mc Hugh Sr. Thomas Dent, John Peterkin and Lucy Salpeter. They are all great heroes who deserve the honor the Association has bestowed upon them.”
The Little Neck Douglaston Memorial Day Parade: Honoring Our Heroes
By Robert Golomb
Since its inception in 1927, the Little Neck Douglaston Memorial Day Parade (LNDMDP) has for four generations attracted the good, patriotic folks of Queens, Nassau County and beyond who have come to remember and honor the men and women of the Armed Forces who gave their lives to protect the rights and freedom that we enjoy today as Americans.
Glen Oaks resident and Vietnam War Veteran, Fred Bedell wrote this letter as a tribute to the deep significance and purpose of Memorial Day.
Memorial Day is fast approaching, and I hope the many will not forget the importance of this day. Memorial Day in my book is not just another day off to shop for sales or backyard barbecuing. In my opinion Memorial Day is a time to remember all those who gave their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy today.

New York, May 12, 2014 – On a cold, snowy January day, a coalition of Republican, Conservative and Democrat New Yorkers came together for a press conference on the steps of Queens Borough Hall to demand an apology from Governor Cuomo for his arrogant and offensive message to all New Yorkers, that if you don’t think the way he does, you have no place in the State of New York.
“Mort Pomerantz was a gift from God, to me personally, and to the veterans he served, and to all who knew him.”

NY Rabbi Pomerantz Dies, Advocate of Conservative, Veterans Causes
Wednesday, May 7, 2014 01:15 PM
By: Jim Meyers
A prominent New York rabbi who was a strong advocate of conservative and veterans causes and a longtime friend of the late Cardinal John O’Connor has passed away.
Rabbi Dr. Morton H. Pomerantz died May 2 at Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, New York, at age 76 after a short illness.
Pomerantz, a Douglaston, New York, resident had retired recently as chaplain for the state of New York, working with disabled children and adults at Melville’s Long Island Developmental Center.
I have developed and try to live by the motto that Mountains are not obstacles to block our path. Rather, they are our creator’s way of giving us an opportunity to stand on top of the world.
The Film Maker
By Robert Golomb
The film “The Historian”, which is rumored to have already begun to draw the attention of several American film industry investors who have already pre-screened it, will have its NY Premiere on May 20th at the SOHO International Film Festival (SIFFNYC), which runs this year from May 15th to May 22nd at the Village East Cinemas located at 189 2nd Avenue in East Greenwich Village.
But in order to make the film- a two hour drama exploring the emotional, sexual and professional odyssey of a college professor whose wife has left him and casting well known television and cinema veteran actors William Saddler (The Shawshank Redemption, Iron Man 3, The Green Mile), John Cullum (ER, Law and Order SVU, Northern Exposure), Colin Cunningham (Falling Skies, The L Word, Flashpoint) and Glynnis O’Conner (Our Town, Law and Order, The Boy in The Plastic Bubble) – The Historian’s forty five year old producer, Mackensie Westmoreland, had to overcome some very serious physical challenges.

THE INTEGRITY OF THE VOTING SYSTEM
Voting is the privilege and responsibility of every citizen of the United States. We enjoy freedom of speech, the press, assembly and religion, freedom from illegal searches and seizures, the right to bear arms and to a fair trial. In return for these freedoms, we exercise our right to vote in order to sustain our Constitutional Republic, established by our Founding Fathers. Millions of Iraqi and Afghani voters risked their lives going to the polls to vote. Our soldiers valiantly fought and gave their lives in every war since the American Revolution, to preserve our liberties and our privilege to vote.
The April 3rd General Club Meeting featured informative presentations on the Common Core State Standards Initiative by two dynamic speakers. Here is the complete video of their presentations in five parts.
Madeleine Sharp, a Long Island Mom shares her research and insights into this federal/corporate takeover since the beginning of her amazing journey through every last detail of “Common Core” as the direct result of her own family’s personal battle with the NYS Education Dept.
Doug Smith is the Constitutent Services Director for Assemblyman Al Graf (R,C District 5, Holbrook), who sponsored Assembly bills to withdraw NYS from the Common Core and Race to the Top programs.
….his children are the most important reasons behind his decision to run for Congress. “ Just like all parents”, he said, “ I love my children with all of my heart and soul. I want to be elected to Congress to help insure that my two daughters and all children throughout our beautiful land will continue to enjoy the freedom and opportunity that has made America the greatest nation in the history of the world.”
Senator Lee Zeldin: On the Radar List
By Robert Golomb
This past November the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) informed 34 year old attorney Senator Lee Zeldin, whose NYS Suffolk County Third Senate District covers major portions of Islip and Brookhaven, that he would be placed on their congressional candidate “ Radar List’’. The NRCC, which is known to have its eyes set on expanding its current hold of 34 seats in the House of Representatives, reserves placement on this list to Republican congressional candidates in competitive races thought to have legitimate chances of winning in this coming fall’s election. Placement on this list is known to be followed with what the NRCC has written to be, “ the tools they [the candidates} need to run successful winning campaigns against their Democrat opponents.”
