The NYPD had a 70 percent approval rating the day Mike Bloomberg left office. In a year since the new mayor has been elected, many feel this city is not the same. Elections have consequences, and we are seeing those consequences now play out in real time. On Jan. 13 at noon at Queens Borough Hall, 120-55 Queens Blvd in Kew Gardens, you can have the mayor hear your voice. A huge nonpartisan public rally to support and honor the NYPD is being held on that day.

Evil thrives when good people do nothing!
The following letter by Queens Village Republican Club member Fred Bedell are heartfelt words that must be said. It was sent out to our local Queens weeklies and regional newspapers.

Queens rallies to support our police
The following letter was published in the “Readers Write” column of the December 19th Times Legder Newspaper.
Queens rallies to support our police
Supporting our police officers for protecting us day and night, is not a Republican or Democrat political issue, it’s an American issue. The U.S. Constitution was established in order to “…establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense…” The first job of government is public safety, and to protect our lives and liberties from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
NYPD: Not To Be Trusted?
NYPD: Not To Be Trusted?
By Joseph Concannon, NYPD, Captain (Ret)
The NYPD provides a shield to the citizens and residents of New York City 24/7, 365 days a year. This security blanket is composed of over 50,000 honorable men and women from all over the downstate region. The agency is responsible for the public safety of the residents of the city as well as the two to four million people who commute in and out of NY each and every day. By land, sea and air, NYPD covers NYC with courtesy, professionalism and respect.
WHAT FERGUSON MEANS FOR AMERICA’S COPS
Fraternal Order of Police comment on Ferguson incident. Hat tip to QVGOP board member, Janet Maderik.
WHAT FERGUSON MEANS FOR AMERICA’S COPS
Every cop in America knows one thing – it could have been him.
Or her.
It could have been him or her, instead of Darren Wilson, who pulled that trigger on Michael Brown.
Or some such similar young man.
Every cop in America knows that, in return for choosing a career in law enforcement, the rules of the road are now that, at any minute, it all could be over and you could become hated and condemned all across the country.
No one would have your back, even the president could denounce you.
Because you defended yourself.

Dilip Chauhan: A Rising Star in the American South Asian Indian Community
By Robert Golomb
When the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi attended a Sunday afternoon reception held in his honor at New York City’s Madison Square Garden this past September 28th, he was treated with what some in the media described as “ Rock Star Status”. Speaking in his native language of Hindu about India, with a billion and a quarter inhabitants the largest democracy in the world, Modi, said to the audience of approximately 20,000, “ In India democracy is not just a system it’s a faith. It’s a belief.”
Celebration of Unity and Diversity at QVGOP Holiday Party with GOP Chairman Ed Cox
The Queens Village Republican Club kicked off the holiday season early with our New York State Republican Party Chairman, Ed Cox’s call for GOP unity. A delicious hot buffet dinner was served and there was a toy drive to benefit orphans and children of domestic violence, sponsored by the NYPD 104th Precinct. Over 100 people celebrated together at the St. Anne’s Council meeting hall at the Glen Oaks Knights of Columbus on December 4th for the annual QVGOP Holiday Party to partake in the holiday joy and spirit of camaraderie and giving.
Mayor de Blasio Insults the NYPD
Letter writer and Queens Village Republican Club member, Fred Bedell wrote the following poignant letter to our local Queens weekly newspapers:
Mayor de Blasio has said after the Eric Garner decision that, he and First Lady Chirlane McCray had trained their biracial son Dante, about the dangers posed by cops. That to me is a clear insult to every man and woman in the NYPD who risk their lives everyday protecting every man, woman and child. Patrick Lynch, president of the Patrolman’s Benevolent Association police union is very angry, as well as every officer who tries to do the right thing. Furthermore Patrick Lynch accuses the mayor of throwing the NYPD under the bus. Well that truly is no lie. Now for the NYPD to be effective in fighting crime and establishing a working relationship in the community for which they serve with honor and diligence, they need the mayor to have their back and to support them wholeheartedly. Mayor de Blasio needs to wake up and smell the coffee. He also needs to remember that,”United we stand, divided we fall!”
