Who Speaks for US?

Gerald Matacotta wrote this short poem in reaction to the hysteria over the Ferguson and Garner grand jury verdicts.

constitution-2Who Speaks for US?

The people who get up every morning and go to work.
Who speaks for US?
The people who own businesses who are living the American dream.
Who speaks for US?
The student who goes to school, studies hard and gets good grades.
Who speaks for US?
The police and firefighters who put their lives on the line every day.
Who speaks for US?
The mayor, city councilmembers, governor, attorney general and the president.
Are all silent for US!
We who obey the laws and live our lives in peace.
Who speaks for US?

The following letter defending the GOP and “setting the record straight,” appeared in the recent issues of Queens Chronicle and Queens Tribune, counteracting the flood of attacks from the left.

Ed Cox: From Eyewitness to History to NYS Republican Chairman

Epoch Times -2

New York State Republican Party Chairman, Edward F. Cox will be headlining the Queens Village Republican Club’s 2014 Holiday Party on December 4th. The following historical account of our Chairman’s background was written for Epoch Times by nationally acclaimed writer, Robert Golomb.

Ed Cox: From Eyewitness to History
to NYS Republican Chairman

060210republican13RMTry taking a guess where Ed Cox, the Republican Party Committee chairman for New York state, got his first job after graduating from Princeton University in 1968. If you guessed that this scion of centuries-old American families with names sounding like they came from the encyclopedia of the American aristocracy—the Finches, Coxes, Livingstons, and Delafields—began his professional career as a financier in a large pedigreed titled Wall Street financial firm, you would have offered a reasonable guess. But you’d be wrong.

THE QUEENS VILLAGE REPUBLICAN CLUB IS ON A ROLL

Happy ThanksgivingWe hope everyone enjoys a Happy Thanksgiving. The Christmas season is now upon us and we wish each of you the merriest of holiday tidings, joyous family gatherings and religious celebrations.

As the year end quickly approaches, each of us takes stock of what we as individuals did to improve our own lives, our towns, our borough and our city. We look back on how we participated in a wide variety of community organizations and how we co-exist with many different viewpoints, some to the extreme right, others to the extreme left, with the majority of us in between. For those who don’t agree with us, we don’t focus on proclaiming banishment from New York State. Rather we try to express our views with greater clarity, direct evidence and with tolerance for those less informed. That’s who we are as New Yorkers.

The Homeless Crisis Hits Queens!

At nearly $4000 per month that the city pays for a prison-like cubicle to house a homeless family, the landlords and operators have found that capitalizing on the property as a shelter is much more profitable than maintaining the building as a hotel. Homelessness has been exploding in NYC, because it is such a lucrative enterprise at the taxpayers’ expense. Another example of a government welfare program run amok.

Dr. Huyler calls for the “Great American Welfare Revolt” at Queens Village GOP Meeting

Huyler-2“….his “radical proposal” to wake our neighbors and send an army of Mr. Smiths to Washington to cut programs and close agencies may be the only way to save our country.”

Dr. Jerome Huyler didn’t know what to expect from his presentation at the General Club Meeting of the Queens Village Republican Club. However, most of the attendees at the November 13th meeting of America’s oldest Republican Club at the Knights of Columbus hall in Glen Oaks, agreed that his “radical proposal” to wake our neighbors and send an army of Mr. Smiths to Washington to cut programs and close agencies may be the only way to save our country. His proposal raised many questions and provided everyone with ample food for thought about the size and scope of government.
