There is a battle raging for the soul of America and it’s taking the form of a peaceful revolution at the ballot box on November 8th. Either you’re voting for Donald Trump, our Republican candidates, and real hope for the future of America, or you’re voting for four more years of Obama’s radical agenda to destroy America, under a Crooked Hillary presidency.

ho could argue that parents choose the schools and educational path their children take? Many of us decided where to settle down and buy homes based upon just how well the school/school district performed. A recent article written by New Yorkers for Choice in Education expands on the choices we make as young adults for our children and states, “Parents have a fundamental right to guide their children’s education.” The article is supported by the 1948 United Nations Declaration on Human Rights which states, “Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education to be given to their children.” Of course this begs the question, are parents aware? Most would argue no way, and that knowledge about school choice is rare at best. Shouldn’t we at least ask our elected officials, “what about school choice?”
On September 11, 2016 we held a very moving and inspiring Memorial Ceremony at Tribute Triangle Park in Glen Oaks Village, to commemorate the heroes and the fallen of September 11, 2001. The Master of Ceremonies was Rabbi Menashe Bovit. Reflections and memories were presented by Lester Friedman, Retired WWII Airman, Jewish War Veterans, LTC John W. Peterkin, USA Retired, also WWII Veteran, including NYPD, FDNY, first responders, religious and community leaders. It was billed as a “Support Your Local Police” event. We’ve established a tradition of offering an optional dinner at our October meeting in honor of Columbus Day. Because of the unavailability of our usual meeting room at the Knights of Columbus each October, we relocate, for October only, to Nancy’s Restaurant. The dinner meeting is on October 6th, and the eatery is located at 255-41 Jericho Turnpike, Floral Park Queens. There’s metered municipal parking across the street.
This is a dinner meeting, but the purchase of dinner is not required (but definitely recommended). For $40, we serve a four-course dinner with a choice of nine entrees. Soda, coffee/tea and dessert are all included along with tax and tip. Cash bar is available. This restaurant receives high praise for its food.

Republican hopefuls for the state Assembly and Senate and a businessman weighing a gubernatorial bid talked about policy issues at a Queens Village Republican Club Meet the Candidates night at the St. Anne’s Council last Thursday.

Mark Cipolla is the Republican and Conservative candidate for New York State Senate in District 11 which is in Northeastern Queens. When asked about the reason he chose to enter the race, he said: “I am tired of seeing career politicians allowed to treat “their” office as theirs, not “ours.” I am tired of seeing career politicians run unopposed because the cost of running a campaign against an incumbent is perceived as cost prohibitive and the uphill battle too daunting.”
One of our biggest issues is corruption in Albany and as Mark has stated: “the first step in ensuring that our government operates ethically is to demand that our elected officials are challenged on their record when up for re-election. Without serious challengers we provide career politicians with immunity to act in their self-interest, not in our best interest.”
