Letter to President Trump

Editor’s Note: Arlene Schlesinger, a dedicated community advocate and Republican County Committee member, has authored the following letter to President Trump. Written on behalf of the Queens Village Republican Club, this letter highlights the critical issues and challenges facing Eastern Queens, NY.  It will be sent to the White House to bring these concerns to the President’s attention.

Honorable President Trump,

We write to you on behalf of the Queens Village Republican Club, the oldest Republican club in America, proudly serving our community for 150 years. We stood by you, prayed for you, fought for your victory, and continue to support your triumphant return to the White House to Make America Great Again.

Today, we reach out in desperation. Eastern Queens—your hometown—is under siege. Radical leftist policies are destroying our communities, and we have been abandoned by those in power. We have rallied, protested, and pleaded with our local, city and state elected officials, yet they refuse to listen. Now, we turn to you.

Since August 2023, we have been fighting against the migrant tent encampment at the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, just off Hillside Avenue in Bellerose, NYC. With the stroke of a pen, Governor Hochul forced 1,300 single adult migrant men into our small, suburban residential neighborhood of Bellerose. Crime has skyrocketed, and yet the NYPD is under orders to take a hands-off approach—because we are told these individuals are our “guests.” The consequences of this reckless policy stretch far beyond Bellerose, affecting Jamaica Estates, and all the communities along Union Turnpike, and the surrounding areas. Migrants are even living in tents in our precious parks, such as Alley Pond Park and Cunningham Park, to avoid detection.

Videos of the January 4th Club Meeting

Senator Jack Martins installed our club board members and officers for 2024 at our January 4th club meeting. Amidst the decline of New York State, with too many residents fleeing, Senator Martins urged us to stay, to fight back, and speak out for our values and what will bring hope and a better way of life for the future generations of New Yorkers. We heard from some remarkable Republican candidates as well.

Thank you to James Doukas for videotaping the speakers!

The Master Plan for Creedmoor and What It Means For You!

The Empire State Development has released a “Master Plan” for the redevelopment of the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center campus. This plan, as it is written, would create a devastating density issue in our local suburban area, which regrettably, was undertaken without community input first.

Voting Matters and Elections Have Consequences

By Phil Orenstein
President, Queens Village Republican Club

We have a Republican Atom Bomb sitting under our feet waiting to go off. The migrant crisis was to be the ignition to cause a chain reaction of outraged voters, expected to storm the poll sites to vote for a change in leadership to take action to stop the illegal alien invasion of NYC and our communities. Voters flooding the polls, living in Eastern Queens, were recently saddled with a migrant tent city on Creedmoor grounds, with over 1000 unvetted single male illegal migrants against the collective will of everyone. Voters who live in fear of increased crime, lawlessness, and destruction of our neighborhoods. Homeowners who see their property values declining. Taxpayers who are on the hook for $$ billions of dollars to provide free housing, food, school, healthcare, laundry service, and even free bus and subway fare for illegal migrants, while the city is enacting sweeping budget cuts, slashing police, trash pick-ups, education, library hours, and cuts to all city services. NYC is headed for a fiscal cliff because Mayor Adams took in 140,000 migrants and every voter is feeling the pain.
