Mayor de Blasio announced plans last week to place a homeless shelter on Manhattan’s “Billionaires’ Row” just south of Central Park. The shelter, which will house 150 single adult men, will be located in the former Park Savoy hotel at 158 W. 58th St., a block from the Ritz Carlton and abutting New York’s priciest luxury apartment building, the $1.5 billion One57 on W. 57th St. The penthouse there sold for $100.5 million three years ago, the highest tab ever for an apartment in the city.

Be Part of the Great Opposition!

Presidents Message, February 2018

By Phil Orenstein

It’s 2018, the year we’ve dubbed, “the new golden era for America and the Republican Party,” and we have some exciting meetings coming up, including a book signing event with Pamela Geller on February 1st. We are hosting historical events and tours, and our glorious Lincoln Dinner on March 18th, as well as some thrilling races for Congress, U.S. Senate, State Senate and Assembly, and Governor to look forward to.

We will be meeting many of the candidates for the respective offices at our upcoming club meetings, as we just recently met U.S. Navy SEALs Veteran, Dan DeBono running for Congress in the 3rd District. Our patriotic club members pitch in and work hard to help get our outstanding candidates elected. We campaign, petition, canvass voters, donate money, make phone calls, rally, pray, stuff envelopes, and enter data around the clock. Over the years, we have accumulated a wealth of wisdom and experience on the election process and what makes a good candidate.

Why Republican, Why Now?

Why Republican, Why Now?

Happy New Year everyone!  We are now rolling into the 2018 election cycle where statewide and State Senate and Assembly seats are up for your attention.  With the state facing a 4.4-billion-dollar deficit and with Governor Cuomo spending $354 million on promoting himself, and every elected official proposing legislative spending for their districts, one must wonder what in the world is going on up in Albany.

At the January 2018 Queens Village Republican Club meeting we heard from a potential candidate for governor, Harry Wilson.  Sadly, Wilson bowed out of the race citing family concerns and attention.  Still, Wilson who swore in our club board members, cited many areas ripe for another candidate to unload on Cuomo, who spends like a drunken sailor (nothing against sailors).

Special Announcement from Harry Wilson on his Candidacy for Governor

Special Announcement from Harry Wilson on his Candidacy for Governor

Friends – as many of you know, I have been exploring a potential run for Governor of New York for the last several months. I had said I would make a decision by this week, and I have: I will not be a candidate for Governor in 2018.

This has been a very difficult decision to make, and I am incredibly grateful for the enormous support and encouragement I have received from so many of you throughout my exploration. Because it has been both difficult and complicated, and because I feel you all deserve a fulsome explanation, I have drafted this long note so I can explain my thinking.
