Trump Opened the Discussion on National Security

Our very future depends upon a huge turnout at the polls. Our only weapon is voting. If we want to save our country from enduring another four years of Obama’s policies under a Clinton administration, we Republicans need to speak out, spread the message and vote in great numbers starting with the GOP Primaries. We need to talk to our neighbors and friends and bring them into the conversation. There is no time for apathy on our critical journey to save our nation and way of life.

Trump-1
I was getting a haircut last week at my local Barber Shop in Bellerose and the barbers, who are normally indifferent to politics, were extolling the candidacy of Donald Trump.  They were unusually animated, saying that America needs a bold leader like Russia has in Vladimir Putin. America now has a weak president whose ineptitude has created chaos throughout our nation and the world. Trump is fearlessly expressing what everyone is thinking but afraid to say. He is speaking out in order to restore America’s leadership and greatness at home and abroad, as these lay pundits of the Barber Shop sermonized. The customers nodded their heads in agreement.

Trump is tapping into the anger and frustration of the American people of all economic and political strata. He has become the voice of the voiceless masses, suppressed and beaten down by the pious spokesmen of political correctness. He is the quintessential outsider, the avenger of the people’s boiling hot frustration with Washington DC. The people are angry with Obama’s agenda and what he’s doing to our country, drastically reducing our military forces, cutting an historically dangerous nuclear deal with Iran, opening the door to the impossible to vet Syrian refuges and the infiltration of ISIS terrorists, refusing to put a name on our radical Islamic terrorist enemies, calling for gun control and action on climate change after the Paris and San Bernardino terrorist attacks,  swapping five terrorist detainees from Guantanamo in exchange for a military deserter, just to name a few.

We Republicans are often called bigots because we hold dear our traditional values, religion, family, safety, security and love of country. Many see in Trump an honest avenger, a bold defender of America’s values and security and one who “gets it,” someone whom the fake righteous media elites can’t touch. The more they go on a rampage attacking and painting Trump as bigoted, xenophobic, racist, Hitler and every other epithet in the book, the more front-runner “Teflon Donald” surges in the polls.

This is not an endorsement of Donald Trump’s candidacy for president. The official policy of our club is never to endorse Republican candidates who are engaged in a Primary contest. I am not attempting to support a particular candidate for the Republican nomination, but simply pointing out that Trump has opened up “a big discussion that needed to be opened up.”

Our country is in peril. We cannot afford another four years of Obama’s failed policies continuing under a Clinton presidency. Trump has initiated a bold discussion on national security which will be the topic of our January General Club Meeting. All the Republican candidates as well as the rank and file voters are participating in the discussion. The fact that 18 million people tuned into the recent CNN debates and 25 million for the Fox debates, demonstrates the widespread public attention to the political process in America today.

The Republican Primary in New York State is on April 19th. Our future is bright. The outlook is positive for America. We can look forward in anticipation that Republicans will take back all three branches of our government in 2016.

In closing, let me wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. See you at our January 7th meeting in 2016 as we begin our journey!

Phil Orenstein
President
Queens Village Republican Club
