Veterans Outraged Over VA Scandal

The following is a letter to the editor was written to our local and regional newspapers by a local Veteran and Queens Village Republican Club member, who expresses his outrage over the VA Scandal.  This Thurday June 5, the Club will be devoting our entire General Meeting to the issue of the growing scandal at the nation’s health care system for our Veterans run by the Depatment of Veterans Affairs.

Veterans-Affairs-ScandalDear Editor,

It has been sad to have read about all the long waits at VA hospitals and facilities for medical treatments. Now VA Chief Eric Shinseki did not seem to have a clue on how to fix the problems and now has resigned.

Meanwhile President Obama believes there needs to be accountability at the Department of Veteran affairs. Well my question is why did it take so long for actions to be taken and an investigation to go forward ? The resignation of Eric Shinseki is only the beginning and I believe an entire overhaul needs to be underway to correct the problems that involves all veterans. To do anything less would be a disservice and a complete disgrace to all veterans who put their lives on the line to protect the nation.

As a veteran, I am appalled and outraged over this insult to all of our veterans. Action is needed now!

Conservative Furor Against Cuomo Coming to a Head

“The Governor of NY has forgotten he is the highest representative of all the people of NYS, not just the one’s he agrees with….Religious freedom is a fundamental right of all New Yorkers and that elected officials, especially elected Catholics can’t pick and choose what part of the Catholic Faith they choose to adhere to.”

NEW YORK (CNS) – In what might signal a fundamental political shift towards more traditional values in New York State, a demonstration was held in New York City calling for a redress of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s public policies many of which are perceived as perniciously attacking Catholic values.

Cathy Sapeta, President of New Yorkers United For Kids, was one of the planned speakers at yesterday’s press conference on the steps of Queens County Borough Hall. She spoke about the effect of so-called “Common Core” curriculum, a hallmark of the Democratic governor’s educational restructuring, on Catholic Education:

“Common Core is about work force development – meeting a minimum standard,” said Sapeta. “A Catholic education has always aimed at challenging a child to meet their potential and to discover their vocation as children of God.”

QUEENS REPUBLICANS SPEAK OUT TO CHANGE THE STATUS CUOMO

Chanting “hey hey, ho ho, Andrew Cuomo’s gotta go,” a coalition of over two dozen vocal Queens and Nassau residents held a press conference today at Queens Borough Hall organized by the Queens Village Republican Club, to announce Governor Cuomo’s interim performance evaluation. Earlier this year, when the Governor made his offensive and arrogant remarks that if you don’t agree with his political views, you have no place in the State of New York, we came out to Borough Hall on a cold snowy day and raised our voices demanding an apology. We gathered today to let all New Yorkers hear that we’re going to change the Status Cuomo and stop the decline of New York, come November.
