BREAKING NEWS: NYCDOE FUNDS, RUSH PHILANTHROPIES??? USED TO RETALIATE AGAINST QUEENS WHISTLEBLOWER
Ms. Rushell White, Principal of MS 226 in District 27, Queens, NY ended the school year by displaying a mural that seems to attack Assistant Principal David Possner. Possner is currently suing the NYCDOE, and naming White. Possner is portrayed as the “bad boy” in the corner of the mural for “whistleblowing” against actions taken by White and others connected with the school.
The mural was painted by Russell Simmons’ Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation (RPAF) for the student gallery on public display in the outdoor area surrounding the school. It seems that this art was commissioned by White. The connection to Rush Philanthropies is an interesting one. Was RPAF complicit in the creation of this mural and with a mindset to further offend a member of the school’s faculty?
Many recognized the finger pointing at the man in the lower right corner as Possner, and were outraged by the public display of humiliation. Hindu staff members were also upset, particularly at the center character, supposedly of Ms. White, the figure with multiple hands and arms as in the Hindu religion; it depicts the goddess of death and destruction.
The history of Ms White at MS 226 is well documented. The school’s close working relationship with Rubin Wills, another disgraced NYC City Councilman is well documented. You can see life size checks with Rubin Wills’ name on it all over the school. I guess so much for role models in this school. Possner is bringing a federal lawsuit against White for some really unprofessional, unethical and illegal conduct.
The United States Supreme Court has recently offered opinions on Whistleblowers. The case affirms protections for whistleblowers. Mr. Possner is a whistleblower at MS 226. Ms. White, the subject of Mr. Possner’s lawsuit is now intimidating a complainant in a federal case by placing his unauthorized image in the mural, her continued harassment of him, and creating a hostile workplace that will no doubt strengthen his federal and local case. Where is the superintendent of this school district? Why is this discrimination allowed to continue?
