State Assemblyman Kieran Lalor launched the petition to Impeach Governor Cuomo which has already reached 18,000 signatures in three days. The petition is in response to leaked audio of a closed door meeting between New York state Senate Democrats and Cuomo’s top aide Melissa DeRosa, in which she reportedly admitted that the state hid data involving nursing deaths from former President Donald Trump’s Justice Department in order to avoid a federal investigation.
The Assembly should immediately pass a resolution to establish a bipartisan committee to investigate the Governor’s actions and make recommendations whether or not to impeach.
We are in the beginning stages of the Asian Lunar New Years. It lasts for 15 days. We were honored in Chinatown as we celebrated our Guardian Angels 42nd anniversary Saturday 2/13 in Confucius Plaza. It marked one year since we were invited in to patrol the area because of an increase in bias attacks against Asians. Because some of our fellow Americans believed that the Chinese themselves were carriers of the CoronaVirus there were attacks and abuses directed at Asians in the streets, buses and subways. We immediately came in and recruited Asian Americans to become Guardian Angels. That required a lot of time spent developing relationships with all the different factions that visit and populate the area. We taught the self help concepts of the “Guardian Angels” and the community responded favorably.
On the political note the Asians were more akin to the values of the Republican Party then they were to the Dems. When it came to preserving the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) to gain entry into the Specialized Public High Schools. Keeping the Gifted and Talented program in the public schools. Supporting their many small businesses, and most importantly supporting the police and bringing public safety back to our city. You would think that the Republicans would have made headway into their growing communities. That has been limited.
I trace it back to Northern Queens and the races that Peter Koo ran against the Dems as a Republican. In his 1st race he ran a good race against the entrenched State Senator Toby Stavinsky. His next race he ran as a Republican for City Council and won in a close race against the Dem. At that point the Republicans failed to capitalize on that victory and left Koo without the support to build and grow the Republican brand amongst the growing Asian community. The Democrats in the Asian Community often are at odds with the belief systems of their constituents. The community can be converted to the principles of the Republican Party because for the most part they are already living their lives that way.
Even with YANG in the race as a Democrat the community has not been immersed by ethnic politics. As the Republican Mayoral Candidate I will spend the time and resources to develop the permanent relationships not just for the purpose of winning the Mayoral Election but for building a Republican infrastructure for their community.
Everyday there are slashings, stabbings and victims being pushed into subway tracks. Murders, shootings and violent crimes are skyrocketing across the 5 boros.
This Saturday 2/13 marks the 42nd Anniversary of when Curtis Sliwa started the Guardian Angels. Their goal then as is now is to take back the streets and subways from the criminals. Nothing else will move forward in NYC until we address the crime issue, public safety and the quality of life in NYC.
There is no candidate running for Mayor from either party who has the background and credibility to once again make our city safe. Now more than ever, we need a Guardian Angel as Mayor of NYC.
Hello! My name is Danniel Maio, president of the Central Queens Republican Club, https://central.queens.gop. I am running to win the Queens Boro Presidency against the incumbent, Donovan Richards (D). Citizens of Queens will be better served by Republicans focused on family, community and compassion instead of Democrats touting programs and services that are self-dealing, wasteful and blind to reality.
I was raised in Frederick, Maryland; graduated from American University with a BA in International Studies; and worked for Westinghouse Electric before starting Identity Map Company with my brother in 1990 making maps of New York City.
I have been involved in Manhattan, Kings and Queens County politics since 2001, when I was the Manhattan Boro President candidate the year of 9/11. I have been on the ballot 8 times, and this race is my 12th attempt. My mother has told me many times that I should switch my party registration to Democrat if I want to win in New York.
I cannot and would not sacrifice my values and the party that I believe in all my life, however imperfect it is. Our country is founded on democratic-republican principles, which means the people elect among themselves their representatives, expecting those elected to caretake the welfare of the people. Pre-COVID, we already knew New York was on the wrong track.
Now, it is acceleratingly more so. Orders from our Democrat leaders have forced the closing of thousands of businesses in Queens and counting. Thefts are done openly nowadays with impunity. We’ve had the worst shooting spike in decades. Teachers have not been laid off, while standardized tests are eliminated, removing incriminating evidence to prove their education failure. MTA has lost millions in ridership, yet federal handouts are to cover pre-COVID reality. Eviction moratorium until May 2021 is unfairly one-sided, and will become the next “Bail Reform” debacle when courts reopen. Where is Chirlane McCray’s $ billion ThriveNYC mental-health program, as increasing numbers of homeless people are left ignored. Even the election fraud and irregularities President Donald Trump single-handedly elevated to national consciousness, are being swept under the rug.
We already know the Democrats’ agenda. More rules, more programs, more spending, and more taxes. Accountability and reality are not their priority. The city and state are losing their income base and trust of their good people. Who will raise these issues without fear of retribution? DON’T expect it from the Democrats!
In January 2020, I spoke at the Rockaway Republican Club. The focus was that Republicans and Conservatives should “rise up and unite”. When it was my turn to speak, I repeated the same mantra. In fact, the name of my political committee is “Maio Unites”. Should you wish to help fund my campaign, up to $175 is matchable, my website is MAIO.NET. I will spend your contribution with respect.
Republicans and Conservatives in Queens need to be united. It is my goal. It shall be our goal. Join me.
Petitioning for citywide offices including the candidacy of yours truly starts February 23, 2021. We will get many good Republican candidates on the ballot including the following City Council candidates: Alex Amoroso, Martin Hightower, Marvin Jeffcoat, Felicia Kalan, Angelo King, Vickie Paladino and others.
Together, we will rise up, unite, and win elections in 2021. When Republicans win, citizens in Queens win.

Sliwa: Fernando Mateo Should Come Clean & Apologize to GOP for Pay-to-Play Politics With de Blasio Instead of Making Lame Excuses
Mateo’s Niece Promotion With NYPD Proves Quid Pro Quo for His Illegal Straw Donations to Mayor’s Re-Election Campaign
Fernando Mateo
(New York, NY) Curtis Sliwa, a candidate for the Republican Party nomination for Mayor, said today that Fernando Mateo, also a GOP candidate, should stop his lame excuses for his $18,800 in illegal straw donations to Bill de Blasio’s re-election campaign and just apologize.
Mateo has publicly stated that he was “tricked” by the Mayor and was the “victim” in the pay to play schemes. However, published reports about the promotion of Mateo’s niece with the NYPD and his admitting his goal with the illegal contributions was to land a city job for a friend (Ahlam Jaoui) proves he knew exactly what he was doing. Mateo even boldly stated “That’s the way politics works.”
According to the report, Mateo’s niece, Det. Nancy Sola, who was a member of de Blasio’s NYPD police detail, had been promoted to second grade detective even after she had been “caught driving the Mayor through stop signs just days after he announced his ‘Vision Zero’ plan to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety.” The promotion was “despite the potentially career-derailing speed bump she hit in February 2014 when she blew through stop signs and was speeding with the mayor beside her in the passenger seat.”
The DNA Info expose’ reported that, “As it turned out, Sola is also the niece of politically influential taxi driver advocate Fernando Mateo” and that “Mateo started pressing his NYPD brass contacts to promote his niece as far back as a year and a half ago” according to sources at the time and that she didn’t have the seniority for promotion in the detail.
This revelation is on top of Mateo admitting that he funneled $18,800 in illegal “straw donations” to the Mayor’s re-election campaign in 2016 to land a city job for Jaoui, saying “That’s the way politics works.” In addition, Mateo’s wife was seeking the city’s permission for a women-only livery service.
Sliwa, who founded the Guardian Angels 40 years ago, said “Mateo should just apologize and admit he got caught up in the pay to play schemes that have been a hallmark of the de Blasio administration. Republicans will have a tough enough time winning back City Hall; we don’t need a candidate that not only made illegal political contributions, but did it on behalf of the worst Mayor in NYC history. This guy is not a credible candidate for Republicans to get behind and he will be a ticking time bomb for our Party.”
The primary election for both Republicans and Democrats will be held on Tuesday, June 22.
The Queens Village Republican Club’s monthly General Club Meeting on February 4th focused on our small businesses and restaurants, the relationship of citizens to government, which should be protector of our rights and privileges, and how State Legislators have made Governor Cuomo “king” who has excercised his absolute powers to pick winners and losers and crush the backbone of small businesses. Here is the video of the entire meeting, including experiences by Mickey King, president of Antun’s of Queens Village, and Duke Quan, owner of BIA Restaurant in New Hyde Park.
“The essence of a free and democratic society is based on checks and balances on power. Queens County is one of New York State’s 62 counties. Queens suffers from absolute control by one political party. There are no checks on power and Queens legislators at the city and state level cower at King Cuomo’s exalted powers. At the end of this political gamesmanship rests the fate of the New York City small business community. After thousands of small businesses shutter their doors, the autopsy will reveal the true cause of death to put on the toe tag of each dream which was known as a small business. In varying degrees, many counties across the state have suffered the same fate.” – The Politics of the Pandemic: Crushing the Backbone of Americas Small Businesses
This letter was written by Club member Lawrence Block, who is director of the Zuckery Bo Band. It is in response to Congressman Adam Kinzinger’s demand that the Republican Party end it’s Trump loyalty, and return the party to the DC establisment abandoning everything that made the party successful over the last four years.
I came across an interesting article today from the journal, Trending Politics. The title of the piece was, Republican Lawmaker Flips on Trump, Demanding an End of Trump Loyalty in GOP Party. The article was about GOP Representative Adam Kinzinger from Illinois taking the position that for the sake of unity the party should reject Trump.
He is among those Republicans who support impeachment, believing that Trump incited the incident at Capitol Hill on January 6th. The writer of the piece did not take kindly to Kinzinger’s position and most of the commentaries were also on the attack against anyone who places blame on President Trump.
Yes I do share a sense of anger towards those Republicans who seem to be pandering to the Democrats, like Mitch McConnell and Marco Rubio. And I was taken aback when I watched a recent interview with Ted Cruz in which he wrongfully asserted, in my opinion, that Trump should take some responsibility for inciting the crowd. It was disheartening to watch one of my favorite senators making what I viewed as a concession to AOC, hoping that his comments may earn him a return to merely her negative graces rather than his current status – on a wanted poster for attempted murder. Like many I’m beginning to look South East for party leadership. There are some strong and steady Republicans in the state of Florida including former President Trump. Anyway, I realized that the Democrats and perhaps China, North Korea, Iran and Venezuela must be delighted with Republican in-fighting; a good reason to stop the bickering and pandering and to unify rather than to self-destruct. My measured response is below .
I support the Trump doctrine. In other words I believe in most of the policies in action that he and his administration advanced during his presidency. At this time the Republicans have before them the greatest challenges to our freedom and liberties in my lifetime. Rather than attempting to define themselves as pro, anti, or indifferent Trumpers, it’s time to evaluate, prioritize and to reaffirm the principles for which the party will come together and support without hesitation or reservation. The reason I suggest evaluating and prioritizing is because the Republicans, whether or not they have the wherewithal to publicly acknowledge it, are facing opponents who are waging war against the fundamental values upon which our country was built and has flourished. It is for this very reason that our game plan has to, at minimum, confront and defeat their war plan. In the spirit and the specificity of the meaning of our constitution, I believe that Republican representatives will ultimately agree that in the context of our founding document, many of the practices and policies of the last four years, the Trump years, accurately and aptly capture the party’s essential purposes. And with a sense of hope and renewal, we need to come together to do justice to our constitutional principles and to the recognition that government exists to serve the people and not the other way around. It’s time to dispose of this ridiculous impeachment and to get to work to save our republic.

Daniel Ulysse is an ordained Baptist minister, Chairman of Caribbean American Republican Assembly, President, Haitian American Republican Assembly, and Organizer for Black Voices for Trump.
NEW YORK, NY – He didn’t of course know at the time that President Trump would later lose his re-election bid. So as he left Miami Airport and drove his rental car to his destination of the Northern Florida neighborhood called Little Haiti this past mid-October, Reverend Daniel Ulysse felt he was the right person, at the right time, at the right place.
An American of Haitian birth, the pastor of his own French language dominant large evangelical Christian Church in Brooklyn, New York, a married homeowner in that borough’s racially and ethnically diverse Coney Island community and a long-time Republican activist, Ulysse, 62, had in early 2019 founded two GOP affiliated national organizations, the National Caribbean American Republican Assembly (NCARA) and the Haitian American Republican Assembly (HARA).
Both organizations, had been formed by Ulysse for the same purpose: To help President Trump, who had only won an estimated 20% of the approximately 700,000 Haitian Americans in 2016, significantly increase that number in 2020.
To achieve that goal, the best place for him to be just two weeks before election day, November 3, was Little Haiti and its surrounding areas, or so the Reverend explained to me during an in-person interview I conducted with him (following Covid-19 regulations) in my Long Island office last Wednesday.
“I knew as a member of the Trump Re-election Campaign team that for Trump to win the crucial state of Florida he would have to maintain or hopefully improve upon his 2016 performance in the Haitian community,” stated Ulysse in an upbeat tone, even in this post mortem period of Trump’s defeat.
“To accomplish that, I knew the best place for me to be was Little Haiti, where 250,000 Haitian Americans live and among the surrounding counties of Broward, Miami Dade and Palm Beach, where an additional 150,000 Haitian immigrants call home,” Ulysse added.
Even in light of Trump’s eventual loss, Ulysse told me that as a Haitian American and a Black man, he remains thankful to Trump for improving the financial conditions of people of his own ethnic and racial backgrounds. “Of course, I have nothing but praise for President Trump and a profound regret that he was not re-elected,” stated Ulysses. “Under President Trump, the median household income of Blacks, including Haitians, grew to the highest level ever recorded… In addition, Trump’s economic policies, drove Black unemployment and poverty rates to their lowest level in the history of America.”
Ulysse recalled that when he provided those facts to the Haitian community through his daily appearances on local Haitian radio and television shows and by campaigning on the streets, avenues and in the malls of Little Haiti, he was encouraged by the response he received.
“Based upon the positive reactions I was receiving from my radio and tv appearances, and from talking to literally thousands of people on the street, I became convinced that Trump would win Florida, and that his same message of economic growth for all Americans would lead to his winning the White House again,” Ulysse recalled.
While Ulysse’s optimism about Trump’s chances of winning Florida proved well founded (Trump defeated Joe Biden in the state by a 51.2% to 47.9% margin, improving upon his 49% to 47.8% victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016 while maintaining his previous 20% support among the Haitian electorate), Trump, as we all now know, did not win the White House again.
Yet, as we sat in my office, on Wednesday, January 27, exactly one week after President Joe Biden’s inauguration, Ulysse told me that he remains optimistic about the future of the Republican Party – either with or without Trump as its official leader.
“Whether or not President Trump remains the leader of the party, I believe that if the Republican Party does a better job of branding and explaining its core governing philosophy and key policies. This includes creating prosperity through free enterprise capitalism, securing our borders, increasing funding for our military and police, achieving energy independence through fracking and other technological advances and supporting our key allies abroad such as Israel, India and Japan, we will win back both Houses of Congress in 2022 and regain the Presidency in 2024,” Ulysse postulated.
Not a small goal, but, Ulysse, who proudly proclaimed that he has always viewed the proverbial half empty glass of water as being half full, told me that he plans to continue to utilize NCARA and HARA, which combined have an impressive 20,000 members, to spread that message to American minority communities across the entire nation, which, he believes, could serve to help Republicans win the majority of future elections.
“The 2020 election was not their [NCARA and HARA] end, but rather their beginning. During the next two election cycles, we will continue from where we left off in 2020, which will be to have our members continue to educate minority communities, including Latino’s, Asians and Blacks, on how Republican’s fiscal policies create better jobs and more business opportunities for them and all other Americans. And conversely, how Democrat policies create only lower incomes and an endless economic dependence on the federal government… That message, I believe, will change the nation’s political makeup, and the Republicans will become the majority party in America once again,” Ulysse asserted.
Still, Ulysse informed me that in early December he formed a third, similar organization to achieve that same, as well as another goal. “I just formed a new organization called the Republican Eyes on Haiti. Its goals are to supplement the work we are doing with the other two groups [NCARA and HARA], and also to help foster closer economic, political and cultural ties between America and Haiti,” Ulsysse explained.
Rev. Daniel Ulysse speaks at QVGOP Holiday Party
Daniel Ulysse, guest speaker at Queens Village Republican Club’s Christmas/Chanukah Dinner Party on Dec 3, 2020. Ulysse is an ordained Baptist minister, Chairman of Caribbean American Republican Assembly, President, Haitian American Republican Assembly, and Organizer for Black Voices for Trump.
While running those three organizations and at the same time serving as the pastor of a large church would seemingly be more than most mortals could handle, an indefatigable Ulysse is currently actively engaged in still another project – this one focusing upon a white minority group. “I have been blessed to have many Jewish Republican, committed Zionist friends in NYC and Florida. Working together as an informal but cohesive group, which we soon plan to turn into a foundation, we have reached out to many Jewish Democrats,” Ulysse stated.
“Our purpose is,” he continued, “to explain to them that the Democratic Party- though still supported by a majority of Jewish voters – is no longer a friend of the state of Israel. Rather, it is only the Republican Party which can be counted on to support our only true friend and only democratic nation in the middle east, the Jewish State of Israel. We are also spreading that same message to the many non-Jewish supporters of Israel, including many pro-Israel Haitians, still in the Democratic Party.”
Ulysse contended that his own religious and ethnic background makes him well suited to disseminate that message. “As a Christian, I believe in God’s covenant with Abraham in which he bestowed the land of Israel to him and his descendants. And I also know that Israel is the only nation in the world whose citizens live on the same land, speak and write the same language, and pray to the same God as did their ancestors three millennium ago,” stated Ulysse.
“And as an American of Haitian descent,” he elaborated, “I am proud to note that Haiti was one of the first countries in the world to cast its vote in The United Nations in 1947 in favor of the UN partition of Palestine, leading to the creation of the state of Israel. And, I am thankful to note,” Ulysse added further, “that in the wake of the 2010 tragic earthquake in Port-au-Prince [Haiti’s capital], which killed more than 300,000 Haitians and left a million more homeless and destitute, Israel provided Haiti with life-saving search and rescue teams to search for remaining survivors, built field hospitals and sent doctors who successfully treated thousands of injured survivors.”
As the 60-minute interview was coming to its end, Ulysse told me that he had somehow failed to mention the most significant people in his life. “My wife, two daughters and granddaughter are the most important part of my life… All that I have attempted to do to make our country and the world a better place has been made possible by the love, support and inspiration they have given to me,” he stated.

Concerning Ulysse and his family it could be said that the apple does not fall far from the tree: His oldest daughter is a registered nurse and a veteran of the US Navy; his youngest daughter is finishing her undergraduate degree and plans to start medical school next fall. And his wife is a respected New York rheumatologist, who 30 years ago founded a still on-going organization, the Aesclepius Medical Society (AMS), which provides various forms of assistance to foreign doctors.
I was not surprised to learn that due to their mammoth work load, the couple rarely takes vacations. However, they do find the time to take one trip per year out of the country. “My wife and I go on yearly missions to the Caribbean. She provides medical care as a physician, and I provide pastoral care as a reverend,” Ulysse explained.
You would expect no less from the Reverend and his wife.
