We often send out this Thankgiving prayer to our members, friends and families, wishing everyone a Thanksgiving holiday that is filled with joy, peace, love, and delicious food and drink!
One of the all-time favorites for many of us on Thanksgiving Day is Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving. We may recall that a particularly poignant quote from this TV special was Linus’ prayer:
“In the year 1621, the Pilgrims held their first Thanksgiving feast. They invited the great Indian chief Massasoit, who brought 90 of his brave Indians and a great abundance of food. Governor William Bradford and Captain Miles Standish were honored guests. Elder William Brewster, who was a minister, said a prayer that went something like this: ‘We thank God for our homes and our food and our safety in a new land. We thank God for the opportunity to create a new world for freedom and justice.’ “
That new world for freedom and justice is America. We have a lot to be thankful for, especially for President Trump, one of our greatest presidents, a fighter for America and all that America stands for.
