Time: 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm
Place: Knights of Columbus, 263-15 Union Tpke., Glen Oaks, NY 11004

Rubber Room - NY PostQueens Village, NY- The cover headline of the New York Post reads “Return of the Rubber Room” and shows that the state of our education system in NYC is still tragically broken, despite Mayor de Blasio recently touting his successes with higher graduation rates and lower dropout rates citywide. In response to our public officials’ failure to provide any real answers or solutions, award winning educator, Cindy Grosz has written “Rubber Room Romance,” part realistic fiction and part non-fiction, which asks the questions and answers “everything you need to know and ask about the education system.”

Ms. Grosz will make her debut public presentation of “Rubber Room Romance” at the Education Reform Forum hosted by the Queens Village Republican Club on February 4th at 7:30 pm at the Knights of Columbus/St. Anne’s Council, 263-15 Union Tpke., Glen Oaks, NY 11004. This timely forum will make the urgent case for reform now of a system that is failing our teachers, parents and children.

RRR - bookMs Grosz said: “It is truly amazing how many, even those who work or participate as a parent, guardian or educator truly have few accurate facts about what is going on in their schools on a daily basis. We listen to members of all political parties discuss the need for improvements to a broken system — yet, it seems, most of the population has little confidence that changes will produce the results we need — because most feel that real issues are being ignored or mishandled.” These real issues that are brought into sharp focus in this realistic novel, will be discussed.

Another panelist, one of NYS’s leading activists for choice in education, is Frank J. Russo, Jr., President of the American Family Association of NY, who also serves on the Executive Committee of Long Islanders for Education Reform and is the producer of AFA Presents, one of the largest public access cable TV programs in NYS. Mr. Russo said, “School choice is the only major way we can help both the poor and the taxpayer at the same time.”

Mr. Russo and a third panelist, Dennis Duffy will present answers to the questions raised by Ms. Grosz. Mr. Duffy served on the Lynbrook Public School Board and has been involved in school choice, efficiency in government, special education advocacy and legislative issues for many years. He received the New York State PTA Distinguished Service Award in 2003.

This public forum focuses on the paramount issues of school choice and education reform and will present the lowdown on what’s wrong and how to fix our broken education system. The media as well as parents, students, teachers, political candidates, electeds and concerned citizens are all welcome to come and learn from award winning educators and experts in the field. Coffee, cake and refreshments will be served.
