Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, along with other Minnesota officials—including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Governor Tim Walz, who nearly became Vice President—have helped stir up protesters in their home state against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). In doing so, they have encouraged disorder, endangered public safety, and contributed to property destruction and civic unrest.

These public officials took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, the country, and its citizens. Yet their actions raise serious questions about whether they are honoring that oath or instead protecting lawbreakers at the expense of law-abiding Americans. At the very least, they appear to be enabling anarchy while turning their backs on the people who elected them.

Perhaps they should reread the Constitution and federal law. Crossing our nation’s sovereign border outside of lawful ports of entry without authorization is a federal crime unless one possesses a valid visa or passport and enters through official channels. This is not a complicated concept. While many who cross illegally may be decent people, they nonetheless broke the law. Pretending otherwise undermines the rule of law itself.

To understand who is truly behind the anti-ICE protests—and who benefits from them—we must follow the money. Beyond Congresswoman Omar, Mayor Frey, Governor Walz, “the Squad,” and other Democrat politicians, funding sources deserve scrutiny. Which organizations are financing these protests? Where are the dollars coming from, and where are they going? Only by examining the financial trail can the public determine whether radical activists, socialist organizations, foreign interests, or ideological networks are fueling these efforts to undermine law enforcement and lawful authority.

At the same time, serious questions deserve to be asked about Congresswoman Ilhan Omar herself. She came to the United States with very little from Somalia—one of the poorest and most corrupt regions in the world, plagued by instability, violence, and the absence of effective government. Yet she routinely condemns America as if it were worse than the country she fled, despite the opportunities this nation provided her.

That brings us to the central question: How does a member of Congress earning a $175,000 annual salary reportedly amass a personal net worth approaching $30 million? If accurate, such financial success would rival the performance of legendary investors like Warren Buffett and major firms such as BlackRock. If this wealth accumulation is legitimate, Americans deserve to understand how it was achieved. Many would gladly learn the formula.

Who is looking into these matters? Reports indicate that multiple government bodies and watchdogs—including Republican lawmakers, congressional oversight committees, and federal agencies—have raised questions and are paying attention. Transparency is essential, particularly for elected officials who wield influence over public policy and public opinion.

Congresswoman Omar may well be a miracle businesswoman—despite never attending elite institutions such as Harvard’s JFK School or Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania. As the famous line from When Harry Met Sally goes, delivered at Katz’s Delicatessen on Manhattan’s Lower East Side: “I’ll have what she’s having.”
