Joe Concannon-2Welcome to National Police Week. It is the annual week commemorating police officers who have given their lives in the line of duty throughout our nation. Yesterday, Mother’s Day was the beginning of National Police Week and it lasts until May 16th. But National Police Week needs to be every day of the year.

The honorees at the 140th Anniversary Lincoln Dinner were the following shining lights of their Queens, NY communities:

New York City’s Bravest Award presented to Bill Miccio, FDNY Lieutenant, VP of 2011 World Police and Fire Games in NYC, on behalf of our gallant men and women of the FDNY.

Businessman of the Year: Harshad Patel, President of the Gujarati Samaj of New York, President and CEO of East End Hospitality Management Co., LLC.

The Harvey Moder Lifetime Achievement Award presented to: Katherine James, former NYC Board of Elections Deputy Chief Clerk of Queens County

Education Advocate of the Year Award presented to: David Lee, Co-founder and Director of CoalitionEdu, an education advocacy group seeking to preserve the high scholastic traditions of our Specialized High Schools of NYC.
