SPECIAL PANEL DISCUSSION:
“The Plight of Our Specialized High Schools”
A panel of experts, students and alumni of New York City’s Specialized High Schools presenting on the topic of preserving the great traditions of our Specialized High Schools and the Specialized High School Achievement Test (SHSAT) which the progressive left wants to abolish, in their misguided agenda to substitute racial quotas for merit, which unfairly discriminates against students of high achievement whatever their race.
Dennis Saffran: Lawyer, former City Council candidate, and political and policy writer for City Journal and National Review Online.
David Lee: Cofounder of CoalitionEdu, an advocacy group that supports preserving the finest traditions of the specialized high schools of NYC.
Michael Benjamin: Former NYS Assemblyman, New York Post columnist, public affairs consultant and strong advocate for high standards in education and against racial quotas at specialized high schools.
Charles Vavruska: Graduate of Stuyvesant High School. Parent advocate for gifted education and strong advocate for preserving the SHSAT. Past President of the Beacon Parent’s Forum at PS 153. Sons of Liberty Republican Club member and Republican Committeeman in Maspeth.
