NYC COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING ON THE CITY OF YES
April 8 @ 10:30 am - 3:00 pm
The April 4th meeting of the Queens Village Republican Club featured Land Use and Zoning Expert, Paul Graziano who presented a comprehensive analysis of the “City of Yes,” the citywide zoning proposal by Mayor Adams. This insidious proposal could subject our residential communities to massive overdevelopment and commercial expansion.
NYC COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING ON THE CITY OF YES FOR ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY
Here is an important message from Councilwoman Vickie Paladino about the NYC Council Public Hearing on the City of Yes, on Monday, April 8th at 10:30 am, where you can go to City Hall in person or testify remotely and voice your opposition to the City of Yes. Information and instructions to testify are below, as well as Call to Action letter, form letter to protest the City of Yes, and more information from Councilwoman Paladino’s office.
On Monday, April 8th at 10:30 am the New York City Council Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises will be holding a hearing on the City of Yes for Economic Opportunity.
This package of zoning text amendments will drastically blur the lines between commercial and residential zoning district across the city of New York. If this passes, commercial businesses will be allowed to operate within residential homes – including nail salons, barber shops, and more. Corner store bodegas will be allowed to open on the corners of residential blocks. Low density commercial zoning districts will be blown to high density with residential housing on top of the commercial real estate.
It is imperative that everyone make their voices heard and let the City Council know we do NOT want the City of Yes. I have been very loud on this, but I can’t say the same for many of my colleagues in Council. I urge you to attend and testify at this hearing to express your opposition.
You can testify in person by going directly to City Hall and letting the guards know you’re there to testify at the Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises. You can also testify virtually by signing up at the link below.
