LITTLE NECK DOUGLASTON MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

DON’T MISS THIS YEAR’S MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
March together with the Queens Village Republican Club in the Little Neck Douglaston Memorial Day Parade, America’s largest Memorial Day Parade, on Monday May 26, to honor the memories of our men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who gave their lives defending the rights and freedom that we enjoy in America today.
HERE ARE THE UP TO THE MINUTE DETAILS:
Date: Monday, May 26, 2014
Line Up Time: 1:00 pm, Parade steps off at 2:00 pm
Line Up Place: Starbucks, 55 Northern Boulevard, (near Great neck Rd.) Great Neck, NY 11021 See Map
Parking: St. Anastasia Church, 45-11 245 Street, Douglaston, NY. See Map. We recommend that you park your car near St. Anastasia, where the parade ends up. Park on the side streets 245 Street, Alameda Avenue or anywhere nearby south of Northern Blvd. Walk up to the Line Up point at Starbucks or drop your passengers at Starbucks before 1:30. Northern Blvd. will be closed to traffic at 1:30 pm.
Parade Car: There will be a hardtop car with driver for anyone who is unable to march the distance and would like to be part of the parade. The car will follow the QVGOP marching unit. Just reply to maduroman@att.net by Friday that you want to be in the parade car. Meet at Starbucks at 1:00 pm.
Closing Ceremony: Right after the parade food and refreshments will be available for free, in the parking lot of St Anastasia, provided by the generous support of the community. The closing ceremony is something you won’t want to miss, with music, entertainment and a special salute honoring our our five Grand Marshals, including our own Lt Col. John Peterkin (Ret.) US Army and Ann Schockett’s Mom, Lucy Salpeter, who served as a Lt. in the Navy WAVES in WWII.
Security: All backpacks, bags and packages will be subject to search. If you see something suspicious, please alert one of the Police Officers along the parade route.
QVGOP Club Golf Shirts: The Red Club Shirts are here. If you ordered one, you may pick it up at Jim Trent’s house, 242-33 90th Ave., Bellerose, Thursday evening 5/22, between 7:30-9:00 pm, at the Community Outreach meeting, or we can make other arrangements to get your shirt to you before the parade.
