SERGIO FURNARI
Sergio Furnari is an Italian-American sculptor, painter, and ceramic artist born in Caltagirone, Sicily—a town celebrated for its centuries-old ceramic tradition. He began drawing and sculpting at the age of five and later trained in sculpture and painting.
Based in New York since 1989, Furnari creates figurative public art inspired by working people, cultural figures, and contemporary social themes. His best-known work is Lunchtime on a Skyscraper: A Tribute to America’s Heroes, a life-size sculptural recreation of the iconic 1932 photograph of construction workers eating lunch on a steel beam.
In 2026, Furnari completed a life-size monument to conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Depicting Kirk holding a microphone and wearing a sweatshirt bearing the word “FREEDOM,” the sculpture was conceived as a statement supporting freedom of speech and opposing political violence. He created the monument to commemorate Kirk’s life and encourage dialogue through art.
