SUMMARY:Next QVGOP Club Meeting: Stop Supreme Court Packing\, Oust AOC\, & more!
DESCRIPTION:Next General Club Meeting: Thurs. May 5\, 2022 at 7:30 pm\nMeeting at: Bellerose Jewish Center 254-14 Union Tpke. Floral Park\, NY 11004\n___________________________ \nWe welcome you to join us at our May 5th Club Meeting to hear from the latest and greatest Republican candidates and speakers that are transforming the USA and bringing on the Great Red Wave for the 2022 elections!\n \nJust now confirmed: Congressman Lee Zeldin\n NYS Gubernatorial Candidate\n \n \nStop Supreme Court Packing!\nOur Featured Guest Speaker:  Roman Buhler\n \nDirector of the “Keep Nine” Coalition\, working to persuade Congress to propose and the states to ratify the “Keep Nine” Amendment to the U.S. Constitution\, now backed by 200 Members of Congress.  The Amendment would ban Supreme Court packing.   See www.KeepNine.org\nOust AOC!\nOur Featured Candidate for Congress:  Tina Forte\n \nTina is a small business owner\, wife\, mother\, and grandmother who has fought for us here in New York\, and she will continue the fight in Washington to stop radical socialists from destroying the American Dream. She is a Republican running against AOC in NY’s 14th Congressional District.\nNew Yorker of the Week!\nOur Featured Candidate for State Senate: Ruben Cruz\n \n“I’m a business owner who’s managed to flourish during the 2008 recession and found ways to innovate during COVID-19 to provide services to the elderly and children in Health & Wellness and Arts & Culture. I also serve on three non-profit boards including the Latin American Intercultural Alliance.” Named NY-1’s New Yorker of the Week for his work with seniors\, Ruben is also an entrepreneur\, community leader\, and Republican for State Senate District 17.\nOur Featured Candidate for State Assembly: Seth Breland\n \n“Born and raised in Northeast\, Queens\, I have a love for my community\, and I am proud of all it provides for its residents. Because of this pride\, I want to fight for my neighbors and make certain Northeast Queens continues to flourish in all aspects; educationally\, economically\, and socially.” Seth served on the Community District Education Council 26\, Queens Borough Student Advisory Council\, was appointed a United States Senate Page\, and is running for the New York State Assembly to represent the people of District 25.\nOur Featured Candidate for State Senate: Stefano Forte\n \n“My family and I love New York\, and for good reason. I was born in the late 90’s and raised in the early 2000’s while our city was going through a verifiable golden age: both violent and petty crime were low\, businesses were thriving\, education was a priority and the prospect of starting a family was within reach for most young people. The city I grew up in was safe and prosperous. Now\, everything has changed.” Stefano became a community activist at 17 years old and now he is president of the Queens branch of the American Conservation Coalition\, and is the Republican candidate for NYS Senate\, 16th District\, with a vision and youthful energy to fight for the city he loves.\n  \nSee bios and more information below\nAdditional candidates & speakers to be confirmed\nCoffee and refreshments will be served\nVisit www.QVGOP.org for more info\n______________________________________________________________________ \n  \nStop Supreme Court Packing: Roman Buhler\n \nRoman Buhler is the Director of the “Keep Nine” Coalition working to persuade Congress to propose and the states to ratify the “Keep Nine” Amendment to the U.S. Constitution\, now backed by 200 Members of Congress.  The Amendment would ban Supreme Court packing.   See www.KeepNine.org\n He served for 14 years as Counsel to the Committee on House Administration of the U.S. Congress as the Senior Republican lawyer dealing with election integrity issues.  He is originally from Harrison\, N.Y. and graduated from Stanford University and the University of Southern California Law School.\nHere is more information about the Keep Nine Amendment.\n The Keep Nine Amendment to Ban Court Packing\n • The Supreme Court packing threat is critical. The left’s next working majority\, which they win periodically\, could curb the Senate filibuster\, add new states\, and pass a law packing the Supreme Court. \n• With Court control the left could rig election rules\, ban most private campaign spending\, rule and intimidate by regulatory edict\, and impose a wealth tax that most would now consider unconstitutional. \n • Only a Constitutional Amendment can permanently ban Court packing.  Amendments for a Woman’s Right to Vote and Presidential Term Limits show success is possible with overwhelming public support.\n • Polling shows voters would\, by a 64-17% margin\, support the “Keep Nine” Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which says: “The Supreme Court of the United States shall be composed of nine Justices.”\n• The Keep Nine Amendment was first introduced by a House Democrat (Collin Peterson\, MN) and a Senate Republican (Ted Cruz\, TX).  More than 200 Members of Congress including 24 U.S. Senators and 179 House Members now back the Amendment.\n• The Amendment is unanimously endorsed by the RNC\, and by ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council)\, Freedom Works\, Tea Party Patriots Action\, Eagle Forum\, Americans for Limited Government\, the National Federation of Republican Women\, and former Reagan Attorney General Ed Meese.  Resolutions urging Congress to act have passed in 19 state legislative chambers.  More than 800 state legislators now support the Amendment.\n • The Amendment effort forces Democrats who claim to oppose Court packing to take a stand on an Amendment to ban it.  The Amendment keeps voters’ attention focused on the Court packing threat. \n • Our plan is simple.  Unite Republicans. Recruit willing Democrats. Build grassroots support. Earn media visibility.  Educate voters in races.  And hold those who won’t back the Amendment accountable.  If those who won’t support “Keep Nine” lose elections\, bipartisan support for it will grow. \n • The threat of Court packing may be the most critical issue of our time. If we lose\, our Constitutional system of checks and balances may not recover.   The left may achieve a near-permanent majority.  \n • We must block the left’s immediate Court packing plans\, make the Keep Nine Amendment a decisive issue in 2022 and 2024\, and eventually force Congress to propose and states to ratify it.\n If you would like to learn more about the Keep Nine Amendment and how you might help\, please contact Roman Buhler\, Director\, Keep Nine Coalition\n202-255-5000 • Rbuhler@KeepNine.org\nVisit www.KeepNine.org\n  \n________________________________________________\nOust AOC:  Tina Forte\nTina Forte grew up in the Throggs Neck area of the Bronx. She learned the value of hard work and love of country from her father\, a Marine Corps veteran\, and her mother\, an entrepreneur. Tina learned that through perseverance and hard work\, she could achieve the American Dream.\nAs a small business owner\, wife\, mother\, and grandmother\, Tina Forte understands the issues facing New Yorkers. Time and time again\, politicians talk\, make promises\, and fail to deliver – Unemployment is still high\, inflation is squeezing family budgets\, crime is on the rise\, taxes keep going up\, and our schools continue to fail our students. Tina has been a vocal activist\, fighting for families\, and calling out hypocritical politicians. She has raised awareness for veterans issues\, fought against draconian lockdowns and mandates\, demanded schools open for students\, and always supported our law enforcement.\nRadical socialist politicians routinely degrade America and the dream it represents. They’ve vilified and defunded our law enforcement\, creating a crime surge\, while cowering behind their own private security. They’ve destroyed businesses\, driven away jobs\, and offered little compensation to those affected\, while enjoying their own large government salaries. They have robbed children of more than a year of education\, denied school choice to those of us who want to give our kids the best education – all while sending their own children to private schools.\nLike millions of other New Yorkers\, Tina Forte has had enough! Tina has been on the front lines fighting for us. She stood shoulder to shoulder with small business and restaurant owners who were struggling. She joined parents in pushing for schools to reopen for our kids. She backed the blue\, and was a vocal opponent to defunding our police. She was even part of lawsuits against Governor Cuomo and Mayor DeBlasio to roll back the Unconstitutional executive orders that have destroyed our businesses and the lives of our children for almost two years.\nTina Forte has fought for us here in New York\, and she will continue the fight in Washington to stop radical socialists from destroying the American Dream.\n___________________________________________________________________ \nNew Yorker of the Week: Ruben Cruz\n\nKids playing in the schoolyard.\nSuch a simple thing. That’s what I want to see in our district again. Kids of all colors\, religions and income levels learning and living together. I want to see a district where the elderly can come out on bright sunny days and walk to their senior center where there will be a karaoke party after lunch. Or another Bingo tournament. Buses and trains are running and people are coming and going to work. \nI grew up in Richmond Hill. We are a Puerto Rican family. We lived on welfare but had the greatest summers any kid could want. Riding the A train\, knees on the seats so we could look out the window. If we were lucky\, we could catch the front of the train and look out the front car on our way to Rockaway Beach. Sometimes my aunt and cousins would come in from Brooklyn for the weekend and we’d all be on that train to Rockaway Beach.\nSo where are we now? We are at the beginning of a new year with renewed hope for the future. While the Rockaways is open year-round\, the warm weather is coming and so are the visitors. Which is why Rockaway should be one of the primary locations to distribute the vaccine. It just makes sense to inoculate a potential hotspot so we are protected from visitors and likewise\, protect those that visit us. We need better transportation. I want to double the bus lines to take on the capacity the trains can’t accommodate. \nI’m a business owner who’s managed to flourish during the 2008 recession and found ways to innovate during COVID-19 to provide services to the elderly and children in Health & Wellness and Arts & Culture. I also serve on three non-profit boards including the Latin American Intercultural Alliance. Because of this pride\, I want to fight for my neighbors and make certain Northeast Queens continues to flourish in all aspects; educationally\, economically\, and socially.  For this reason\, I am proud to run for the New York State Assembly to represent the people of District 25.\nI am no stranger to public service. For six years\, I served on the Community District Education Council 26 and became the student representative during the 2019-2020 school year.  I visited classrooms across the area and elevated student\, teacher\, and family concerns to the council. In addition\, I served on the Queens Borough Student Advisory Council and represented North Queens on the NYC Department of Education Chancellor’s Student Advisory Council. In 2018\, I was appointed to be a United States Senate Page.  My close work with all 100 U.S. Senators afforded me a wonderful experience and opportunity to assist in the day-to-day operations of the United States Senate.  Read more. \n___________________________________________________________________ \nIt’s Time to Get Out-of-Touch Career Politicians Out!\nby Stefano Forte\nhttps://stef4senate.com/ \n\n\n\nI grew up in New York’s golden age during the prosperous Giuliani era when crime was low\, quality of life was high\, and we all felt secure walking the streets of our great city at any hour of the day. Our businesses were thriving. Education was a priority. The city I enjoyed and loved was safe and prosperous. Being raised in an immigrant family of small business owners who worked their way up the socioeconomic ladder with their sweat\, blood\, and tears\, I truly believed that the promise of the American Dream was well within our grasp. \nNow\, in a very short time\, everything has changed. Disastrous policies have led us to disastrous places: our small businesses are shutting their doors for good\, the quality of our education has plummeted\, and\, most concerningly\, non-violent and violent crime alike have shot to record highs. What caused this? Many of us already know the answer\, and it’s obvious: electing the same kind of radical (or simply complacent) career politicians over and over again has emboldened them to create policies that are decimating the city we all love. The Bail Elimination Act\, passed through the budget in 2019\, has allowed all manner of “non-violent” criminals to be freed ahead of their court date without posting bail. This could’ve been a just concept\, and it was in theory – rich people and poor people should not have different advantages under the criminal justice system simply because of economic status. But as we all know\, this theory became an almost immediate disaster when put into practice. By stripping judges of their discretionary abilities\, there is now no way to keep potential re-offenders in custody ahead of their court date. The result has been the categorical catch-and-release of criminals that has led to such tragedies as the recent violent assault of a toddler in Flushing\, or the shoving death of Michelle Go in Times Square. Both of those offenders\, like many others\, had committed prior offenses and should not have been walking the streets of our city.  Read more. \n
