City Council Candidate Dennis Saffran (R-C-Reform, 19th District) condemned the Council’s vote today to override Mayor Bloomberg’s veto of Intros Nos. 1079 and 1080, the so-called “Community Safety Act,” stating:

The Council’s decision today to ignore the testimony of Police Chief Ray Kelly, PBA President Pat Lynch, and others who have worked to make the city safer, and to instead push through this bill that will handcuff the police, is a grave mistake which will lead to more drugs and guns on our streets and victimize the very people the Council claims to protect.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Congratulations to our City Council candidates, Joe Concannon (District #23 – Oakland Gardens, Queens Village), Sunny Hahn (District #20 – Flushing), Dennis Saffran (District 19 – Northeast Queens)! All three candidates successfully secured the Reform Party ballot line for the November General Elections. The Reform Party is an independent, third party line on the ballot which will expand the ballot choices for Liberal and Democratic voters who are concerned with the safety and security of our city and fed up with the rampant culture of corruption in our city government.  All three candidates were proudly endorsed by the Queens Village Republican Club.

OCTOBER MEETING IS OUR COLUMBUS DAY DINNER EVENT

There are two meetings out of the yearly calendar devoted as dinner meetings. The Christmas (Dec.) meeting is one, and the other is October when we celebrate Christopher Columbus Day. The dinner is $35 per person with tax and tip included. There will be a choice of four entrees, plus coffee/tea/soda, dessert, salad, and pasta courses included. The purchase of the dinner is not mandatory (unlike the Dec. meeting,) but we do need a count for the restaurant. Entree choices are chicken francese, eggplant parmigiana, pork chop with vinegar peppers, and tilapia oreganata. Choices can be made at the dinner.

THE DREADED RED DOTS ARE BACK!!

If the envelope containing this issue of the The Queens Village Eagle sported a red dot, it means you are in membership arrears for the year 2013. We have enclosed a handy remittance envelope. Please use the back panel of the newsletter below (or photocopy) and mail back to us with your check payable to the Queens Village Republican Club. Your dues support day to day operations such as meeting hall rent, postage and printing of the newsletter, stationery supplies, Internet expenses, etc. Campaign support comes largely from the Lincoln’s Day Dinner proceeds. We need both sources of income to be a viable club. If you are not in arrears (no red dot) you can use the response envelope to pay ahead for 2014 or make a donation. Thank you.

Concannon Blasts City Council’s Brazen Vote to Shun the Public and NYPD

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CONTACT:  JTrent8830@aol.com

CANNON BLAST: “The Council has…forsaken the trust of all New Yorkers and put NYC Police Officers once again in harm’s way, while they let murderous criminals have their way on the streets of NYC. Shame, shame, shame on the NY City Council.”

Police Unions Endorse Joe Concannon4New York, Friday August 23, 2013 – Retired Police Captain, Joseph Concannon, who announced his candidacy for City Council (CD #23) on August 8 on the steps of City Hall, endorsed by all New York State law enforcement unions, blasted the City Council’s vote to overrule the mayor’s vetoes on the two bills that would handcuff the NYPD and protect the criminals. The City Council voted to create an Inspector General to monitor the NYPD and passed a bill that would give citizens more options to sue police officers if they feel they’ve been profiled based upon race, gender, age, housing status and a number of other politically correct criteria. Concannon as well as the entire law enforcement community named the bills the “Criminal Protection Act.”

Joe Concannon with flag-smallCANNON BLAST:   “Our campaign for NY City Council is about a broader discussion. That discussion is all about the Constitutional protection of our lives and liberties. Take them for granted and you can be guaranteed that someone will take them away. All good citizens demand honest government to replace the culture of corruption, and they demand safety and security of this city. I am running on the Reform Party line, a new anti-corruption, pro-law enforcement party line, and New Yorkers will speak up and have their voices heard at the ballot box in November”

New York, Tuesday August 20, 2013 – Joseph Concannon, who ran for New York State Senate last year on the Republican and Conservative lines, has entered the explosive City Council (CD #23) race 10 days ago with a “Cannon Blast” on the steps of City Hall, endorsed by all New York State law enforcement unions. Over 1100 signatures on the Reform Party petitions were filed yesterday with the Board of Elections, guaranteeing a challenge-proof position on the ballot, since the minimum signature requirement is 450.
